When a traveling Wild West show comes to town, the natives are frightened by a one-foot-tall horse that is believed to be a bad omen. This movie was better than I remembered it. Although the first part of the movie is not very exciting as you wait for the dinosaurs to appear, once they do the movie really takes off. The stop motion effects are as good as Harryhausen ever created. There is a lot of fun and action in the scenes in which the cowboys try to capture a T-Rex. Added to that is interesting scenery and a fine Western score similar to the score from "The Big Country." This is much better than Cowboys versus Aliens.

I rented this on a nostalgic whim. I saw it years ago but this time around was not a revelation. As for the special effects I think Jason and the Argonauts was the pinnicle of RH's effects arsenal and a far more compelling story but for anyone who enjoyed this I would recomment the above mentioned film.

Review 315: too similar to King Kong not to be it's western ripoff/retelling as it starts with Wild West show folk finding their way out to an even wilder rodeo where this showman's talents may still be put to use, alongside 36 years in stop motion advancements.

This movie is awesome! stumbled upon it and what a treat, stop motion dinosaurs, a mob of cowboys on horses trying to capture them and none stop action, a cult classic for sure!

I loved watching this movie when I was young. What I don't understand is if the film was supposed to take place in Mexico why wasn't there more spanish in the film. How many times do you go to an event in Mexico and the announcer announces the events in english????? Other than that, it's a pretty good film for that year.

This movie is a good pre quel to all the Jurassic Park movies. The special effects are fine for a movie from that year and it doesn't have a high scare factor. (Every scene with the Gwangi is shot in day light.) Watch the Special Features - good for young film students who want to know how movies with special effects were made before computers, etc. If the pre-teens have seen Jurassic Park and are interested in something from their parents' time, this will be a good choice.
