Author Sherwood Kiraly pens the screenplay adaptation of his own comedic novel concerning a man (Matthew Broderick) who gets amnesia after suffering a blow to the head and the road trip he embarks on with his Alzheimer's-afflicted uncle (Alan Alda) and high-school sweetheart (Virginia Madsen). Convinced that they will make a fortune by selling an ultra-rare baseball card at a high-profile memorabilia show, the trio sets out on the open road in search of adventure. Bobby Cannavale and Lois Smith co-star in the feature directorial debut of actor-turned-director Terry Kinney. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I really liked this movie, it has a nice mix of the drama and seriousness of the subject along with light comedy. A bit of action sprinkled in as well. Kept my interest through the whole movie. Alan Alda is great in this role of an aging man with "dimcap".

The story is poignant and serious, yet wonderfully entertaining. Alan Alda is at the top of any moviegoer's list, and this one proves why...plus the supporting cast is outstanding as well. Diminished Capacity is a movie that's fun to watch, but with an engaging, meaningful story line. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! (If you like baseball, you'll like it even more. And if you're a Cubs fan, you'll watch it several times!)

It was a decent movie. some sad moments. It made you think about how important being confident is and how it can effect your life.

this movie seemed to have potential, but moved at a pace where you really didn't care too much about the characters or he quirky story. matthew broderick seems to do a lot of these somewhat small mediocre movies these days. this movie was like his other, 'chasing amanda.' somewhat interesting, but quickly forgettable.

Great Show but my point is: BB what Liars! I pay for 3 at a time and it takes them 6 days before they mail it. Turned in on Wednesday at the store and not sent until Tuesday the following week. Then it takes 4 days to arrive. The other company doesn't stall my shipping or give weak excuses

If you get past the first 20- 30 minutes, this wasn't that bad.

This is one of the worst movies in a long time. Nothing made any sense. If a doctor determines that a senile person needs co-signing on any contract, how can a deal made by the senile person be valid? Why would a security guard joke about shooting somebody? How could somebody carry a rifle around Chicago, where gun laws are among the strictest in the country? Any stars the movie might have earned were erased in a grand finale of everybody acting stupid. Diminished capacity is for the producer, director, and script writers, if there were any.
