In Paul Verhoeven's wild sci-fi action movie Total Recall, Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a 21st-century construction worker who discovers that his entire memory of the past derives from a memory chip implanted in his brain. Schwarzenegger learns that he's actually a secret agent who had become a threat to the government, so those in power planted the chip and invented a domestic lifestyle for him. Once he has realized his true identity, he travels to Mars to piece together the rest of his identity, as well as to find the man responsible for his implanted memory. Verhoeven has created a fast, furious action film with Total Recall, filled with impressive stunts and (literally) eye-popping visuals. Though the film bears only a passing resemblance to the Philip K. Dick short story it was based on ("We Can Remember It For You Wholesale"), the movie is an entertaining, if very violent, ride. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi

Creative, campy and suspenseful with plot twists and humor, this is Arnie fighting the bad guys at its best. Brain candy rarely tastes so good.

This is one of the better stories from Phillip Dick's 'Minority Report and other stories' (Paycheck, Total Recall, Screamers, Minority Report). A good adaption to movie.

Definately had a low budget feel but had some very comical and weird scenes. Interesting finish. Wish more had been explained about the alien technology. Definately a Arnold action movie.

I can't believe I didn't see this movie when it first came out in '90. Just watched it now. It looks pretty dated today, but you have to remember it is pre-CGI. The "making of" feature explains how all the sets and scale models were built by hand and the FX were done without CGI. It may look low-budget today, but it was big budget in 1990. And you gotta love the mutant with 3 ta-ta's!

I'm not a huge Schwarzenegger fan, but this movie was really good. What a creative concept for a sci-fi film. It's action-packed from the start and doesn't let up.
