The Three Stooges Meet Hercules (1962)
Member Rating:
Larry, Moe and Curly Joe work in a pharmacy where a young professor works on a time machine. When the machine is sabotaged by foil Ralph Dimsal (George N. Neise), the Three Stooges, the professor and beautiful Diane (Vicki Trickett) are transported back in time to ancient Greece. The group lands in the middle of a fierce battle between rival armies. Meeting up with the might Hercules, they soon discover their appearance in the battle helped turn the tide in favor of the wrong side. A series of mishaps and a stint as galley slaves plague their efforts to correct historical accuracy. They battle mythological monsters and the evil General Odius (Neise) to set the historical record straight. ~ Dan Pavlides, Rovi

You want Shakespear? You want Ben Hur? Well this isn't it. But if you want the stooges with nonsense sight gags and lots of Slapstick, boy do I have a movie for you. This one has the stooges helping a young scientist invent a working time machine. But with the boys involved all things will go wrong. They go back to ancient Greece. Do lots of stuff that slaves would do. Get in and out of scraps . But they save Hercules from the dark side, get the scientist and his girl back together and save the day. Not bad for a bunch of aging vaudevillians. I would have to say of the later films, this one is the most fun. I give it two pokes in the eyes. (Just kidding)

One of the worst Stooges productions ever! The boys were getting really old by the time this film came out, way, way past their prime, and they seemed to have lost that vitality and edge they had during previous works. Of course, this one featured "Curly Joe" (Joe DeRita) instead of the original "Curly" Howard. Better than Joe Besser, but still not a good choice. I've been a hardcore Stooges fan for 5 decades, and have seen most episodes many, many times and it never gets old. This film was so bad I found myself fast forwarding through a few parts. It saddened me.

Certainly one of the best of the Three Stooges feature films, and it is Curly Joe's best appearance. Good story, fine production. Although it's not as funny as their earlier short films, it has some very funny sequences. Very good supporting cast includes Hal Smith and Emil Sitka standing out.
