Strictly for classical music lovers as an appreciation of the melodic skill and extreme flexibility of Shostakovich. While the movie is dated, when it breaks into song, the music is scintillating and interesting. Plot is ridiculous, but can be appreciated from a historical context re. Communism's obvious weaknesses in satisfying the needs of their people.
