The Tudors: Season 01 (2007)
Member Rating:
The Tudors presents the rarely dramatized, tumultuous early years of King Henry VIII's nearly 40 year, omnipotent reign (1509-1547). In addition to his famous female consorts and 20+ year marriage to Catherine of Aragon to the infamous dalliance with Anne Boleyn, the series delves in to Henry's most notable political relationship and the deconstruction of the Roman Catholic Church in England.

Fantastic show ! Some of the scenes border on mild pornagraphy so it's not something you'd let the kiddies watch to buff up their old world history class. The only problem I've encountered is getting the seasons out of sequence. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers is awesome.

Soap opera in fancy dress. I don't mind a few historical inaccuracies here and there, but the blatant rewriting of historical fact (Margaret Tudor was Queen of Scots, not of Queen of the Portuguese--and she didn't murder her husband!) makes this an exercise in gratuitous Tudor T&A.

We love the Tudor series. It is a good idea to check out the history of this era (e.g. Wiki). This production is done extremely well with unbelievable costumes.

I agree with several of the other people - this is nothing more than soft pornography!!

Quite stylized with its ornate costumes and settings. In season 1, I didn't see much of peasant life outside the Court, and according to other reviews, there are historical inaccuracies. If you like soap opera melodramatics, you'll like this. Lots of fornication, but the language is not too bad. Season 1 ends as a cliffhanger with major issues unresolved.

I wish there was a season 5,6,7,etc. I will be sad when i have seen them all.

Sabrina H I agree it is hot and sexy and just like Marlene A says "who cares if its NOT historically accurate". You will still find it very entertaining. I'm hooked.
