Melissa Gilbert acquits herself well in this old-fashioned family drama about a gritty Texas orphan named Charlie (Gilbert), a substitute parent for her brothers, determined to succeed in life by converting an unmanageable rodeo horse into an equestrian champion. The transformation from equine dross to championship dressage is not an easy road, and helping Charlie is the often tipsy but tough Foster (Richard Farnsworth), as well as Matt, the man who captures her heart (Michael Schoeffling). After they succeed in training the actually talented horse, they head for the blue grass and bluer blood of Kentucky, where the equestrian and racing elite hold court over all, including newcomers from Texas. Now they have to coax the horse to make it through the formal dressage, cross-country, and jumping competitions -- and to do that in top form. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

This movie definitely has horses in but it also has a rape scene, a breast, and an implied sex scene. Not a bad movie, but should be PG-13.

Nudity and the ratings do not mention it. I'm disappointed. I should've read the reviews on the movie first. My bad. Thought it would be safe for my kids to watch, but never finished the movie. Thumbs down here!

I wish I would have read the reviews about this movie before renting it! I felt like Melissa Gilbert was portraying a role so totally opposite that of Laura in Little House on the Prairie. I am so glad I previewed the movie because I would have been appauled if my children had seen it. It is most definitely not suitable for young children and should be rated PG-13. If the swearing, drunkenness, attempted rape and implied sex scene were taken out, I think it could have been a great movie.

Do not rent this movie for kids. I thought it would be a "safe" movie for my kids, since it starred Melissa Gilbert and was rated PG but I had to shut it off after only 5 minutes. The profanity is terrible. I was surprised at the words that came out of Melissa Gilbert's mouth.

This movie isn't for the kidies. It portrays the type of lifestyle a young orphan girl and her 2 brothers may find trying to grow up in an impoverished ranch town. It includes adult themes of Rape, Alcoholism, Profanity and Adultery. Then is goes on to showcase the not very realistic idea to bring a ranch horse to the Rolex within a short training period. Yes, we all need to dream and dream sometimes do come true but the movie is off balance.

I didn't like the language. Especially since I was watching it with my 7 year old. I've raised him not to use the lords name in vain and several times it was used. Also the part where Charlie(Melissa) is attacked by her co-worker (a rape attempt) and it showed her naked chest. Way too much for any child. Extremely disappointed. Had to turn it off. For adults its fine. Not for little children. Like I said, should be rated PG-13 or R.

My group of 6 ten year old girls did not think this movie was appropriate for them AT ALL. Lots of bad language early on in the movie. We took it out and did not even see it past the first 15 minutes due to this situation. I would think that PG13 would be a far more realistic rating due to language.

I really liked it because Michael Schoeffling was in the movie! I always enjoy a movie if it has a Fine Guy! Michael looks like he could have played Elvis! I notice next to the rating "PG", it says "excellent for children" but there is an attempted rape scene in this movie that shows Gilbert's breast, that is "Not for children." Other than that, it would have been okay for children to watch. You could fast forward that part, like I did. I always keep the remote close to me for close encounters. Giving this movie 3 stars and an extra star for Michael Schoeffling!

Little House on the Prarie Melissa Gilbert gets raped in this movie, has her shirt torn open and her breast exposed ! The guardian ( Ranch Owner) in this movie also is a drunk and it portrays alchoholism several times. Even though the horses are nice this is not a young kids movie. This movie is rated PG but should be rated R.

This not an appropriate movie for families. There is a scene in the car that made this very inappropriate for kids. I was expecting the language, but even my kids thought that was excessive.
