Having just carried out a particularly difficult hit in London, two hitmen seek shelter in Bruges, Belgium, only to find their views on life and death permanently altered by their interactions with the locals, the tourists, and a film crew. Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, and Ralph Fiennes star in an action comedy from director Martin McDonagh. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
I don't usually like action films because of the violence. This film, however, is very good; the acting is great and the story is interesting. Definitely worth seeing.
Not for those who are easily offended by coarse language, but great dark comedy. Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson showed real humanity even as hit men.
This is a movie just the way I like them. Quirky but intelligent, off-beat but realistic (in its own context only!). If I described the plot you'd shrug and probably think of the movie very differently than if you watched it. It is a sort of mood piece and you need to immerse in it to understand it. Very well acted all around. I'm tempted to give 5 stars (a rarity for me) but there were a few smallish flaws (which I won't mention as it'd be giving away something too big in the plot) and I think it was made deliberately a little too depressing sometimes (don't misinterpret - the movie in general is actually rather up beat and has some real chuckles.)
