Manages to keep suspense while taking viewers into a world they are not usually exposed to. Though you can quibble with some of the details, it is an honest view and a realistic plot.

A good storyline with Melanie Griffith giving a very good performance. Yet, this film was so slow at times that I almost stopped watching it. I would recommend this to persons who like police stories, but also enjoys watching a forbidden love story. I believe this movie could have gotten four stars if it wasn't so slow moving.

Although born in Brooklyn, I loved this movie because it gave me an insight into the Hasidic Jewish customs and practices. Really good movie in my opinion.
