The Zombie Diaries (2006)

The world is in the grip of a viral pandemic that causes the dead to reanimate and feast on the flesh of the living, and as three groups of survivors attempt to document their survival on video for posterity, their numbers quickly begin to dwindle. In the early days of the 21st Century, a variant of the Avian Flu known as "Omega strand" began spreading across the globe with unprecedented speed. Though the virus has a nearly 100% mortality rate, it's victims appear to defy death by rising up and staggering through the streets in search of nourishment that only human flesh can provide. Will these desperate survivors make it to safety and live to share their tales of survival with future generations, or will their video document remain an unviewed document of the zombie apocalypse, destined to gather dirt until getting crushed under the rotting feet of the undead masses. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I am a huge horror fan. Yes, I knew going into this, that it was low budget, and there would be lots of hand held camera movement. Unfortunately, the biggest problem with this film: too much camera movement. In scenes which involved two characters, for instance, the camera constantly moved from left to right, and zoomed in and out, from one character to the next. That said, I will touch on the plot. No, it's not original, but a movie about a group of people trying to survive in an apocalyptic world filled with zombies, had the potential to be mesmerizing. With the use of excellent, creepy music, and several nighttime scenes, the movie was at least, atmospheric. Unfortunately, the film takes a wild turn during its last ten minutes, and literally just ends abruptly. In summary, there are two big flaws: 1) Too much camera movement. 2) Abrupt, anticlimactic ending.

My 11 year old could kill these zombies. They don't run, they are slow, and they aren't constantly biting like your typical zombie. How these idiots managed to get killed by these things is beyond me. The movie touched on ONE scary point- that was when one seemingly normal person turned on other people and started to exploit the situation by raping women and killing other survivors. Other than that...there was nothing scary about this film. Zombie fans will definitely be disappointed with this one.

there is probably only about 6 zombies on screen at any given time, and they really dont move, im saying they make romeros zombies look like speedy gonzalas. shamblers are only scary in large numbers, but due to the budget of the film they should have just gone with running zombies and given the movie some kind of pulse. the boxart for this movie is better than the movie itself, and im not saying that just to be smarmy either. if the movie was half as cool as the case that it sat inside, i would have been thrilled, but nothing you see on the cover is in this movie. nada. no desolate cities, hordes of zombies, or baddass's duel weilding guns. apparantly there are reviews saying that this movie is "better than danny boyle's 28 days later" and others that harold it as "the best zombie film ever". Please don't be fooled by this. i normaly don't bother to write reviews, but i feel pretty strongly about how bad this movie is.

I was very disappointed with this movie. I had such hope for it from the previews but all you get is "Blair Witch Project" in Britain with zombies. Involves three different groups of people, none of whom which you like or care for and their useless adventures and running into a few zombies. Complete waste of time and typical for one of the "Extreme" pictures. Take a pass on this stinker.

This is one of those movies that I rented because I saw it on a preview, and thought it was going to be a good movie. Boy, was I wrong. It started off pretty good, your usual "the virus is coming" that's in every zombie flick, creepy farm setting. However, I didn't really care for the "diary 1, diary 2" thing. In the "Diary 2 part" of the movie I'd like to know who/why they hired the "James" character. What was Mr. Bartlett & Mr. Gates thinking when they came up with that ending?...not much. Rent Diary of the Dead, much better...acting, budget, zombies! and directed by the master of the dead himself, George A. Romero

Don't let the cover fool you, it's very misleading. The movie itself is kind of interesting, if you want to watch home movies of what it might be like. Bad home movies that is. I see where the directors where trying to go, but it just didn't get there for me.

This is the kind of movie that put more time in the cover art than it did the actual film. There was absolutely no point in this movie. I was constantly on my feet waiting for something exciting to happen...and then the credits came. The zombies were VERY slow. I have a hard time understanding how people actually got caught by them. Anyway, save your money and rent a better movie!
