A two-bit criminal gets a shot at redemption while traveling through Southeast Asia in this 2006 drama from director Guy Moshe. Ron Livingston stars Patrick, a low-level con man who scores a gig transporting some stolen goods from Cambodia. When Patrick is sidelined at a brothel, he finds himself drawn to helping the title character, a 12-year-old Vietnamese prostitute played by Thuy Nguyen. This is an EXCELLENT Drama, which confronts real life issues which makes it far more meaningful than most other Dramas. Funny there was only two DVDs on the Shelf at the store. Looks like someone doesn't want to get the message out very bad. Anyone who thinks about Traveling to Thailand, Veitnam, Mexico, and the Philippines to have Sex with the Girls there, NEEDS to watch this movie. Many Sex Tourists don't understand how the Girls got there to begin with, Many others would like to ignore the problem. This shines a Light on just how Corrupt the Sex industry is in those Places. But there ARE some Girls who enter into the Business Willingly, but this Video shows how they Kidnap girls and make them believe that this is the only life they have. I hope it motivates someone to take action against the *$$Holes who are involved in this stuff.

This is a great movie that depicts real life events in many countries. The story was good & movie quality. There is an organization I know & help personally in the Philippines called www.preda.org & they help with kids like Holly. I would say that the governments don't do enough to help & are corrupted enough not too, but thats my opinion.

I cannot believe how shallow the description is for this movie! This was a great movie highlighting the problem of children being abducted and forced into the sex trade. It depicts the situation that many Americans are not awar of in Asia, that families will sell their children for money in order to survive. The 12 yr old star was not just a prostitute, she was a child, one that was taken advantage of by adults. This movie is a real eye opener and the director's won awards for bringing awareness to many who never realized this is an ongoing issue. PLEASE SEE WATCH IT AND DO SOMETHING TO HELP.

This story is unique in itself & not like another reviewer says, so it is recommended if for nothing else but enlightenment. The acting was believable,so was the cinematography. Like any movie there are parts that are questionable,& I understand the connection between the main characters as a father, you feel the urge to save at least one. With govt. officials caught up in the trade you know this will never stop, & although you think you've seen & heard it all there's always something new coming down the pike. This movie allows you to examine the innocence of a 12 yr. old being exploited and not by her own volition.

Having spent a good bit of time in most of SE Asia, this film looks very realistic. And it's a good story that unfolds methodically to an interesting end. Not preachy at all. It's both a complex and simple problem related to demand more than supply. Recommended, but don't expect Tom Cruise type antics. "Born Into Brothels" is a documentary, but it reminds one of this film. Definitely see, "Born Into Brothels." 5-star uplifting true story of what one person can do. (By the way, BBuster's "Member Rating" averaging here does NOT result in 2.5 stars. More like 3.5. Crazy.

Nicholas Kristof's book HALF THE SKY describes these disheartening trafficking conditions. This movie gives the story a visceral and real voice. Recommend it to everyone you can!

Not a lot of depth on this one. This subject matter has been done before in a MUCH better way in other past movies. This movie is a skipper and NOT the must watch that the other reviewers would like you to think.
