Azumi 2 (2005)
Member Rating:
The effects of schizophrenia reverberate through three generations of educated Indian women when a woman is diagnosed with the psychotic disorder and those around her, including her westernized daughter, struggle to maintain normal lives. As Azumi 2 gets underway, remaining assassins Azumi and Nagara set out in pursuit of their final target - the notorious Masayuki Sanada. But Sanada is fully prepared for the confrontation; he's hired the dreaded Koga Ninja Clan to dispense with Azumi, and they won't stop until their mission has been completed. The Koga Ninja Clan aren't the only foes that Azumi has to worry about either, because Kiyomasa's failed retainer Kanbei is out for blood as well. With enemies closing in from all sides, things are beginning to look decidedly grim for the assassin forced to choose between love and duty. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

It's been awhile since I've seen the first Azumi, but if memory serves me correctly, the first one was a lot better than this one. Not that this was all that bad, but the 2 hour long movie just seemed to drag on even though there were a lot of fight scenes. Usually love movies like these, but would probably not recommend this one..

While there were definitely enough fight scenes, a lot of the dialog and shots in between were drawn out and lengthy. The movie overall was about half an hour too long and tended to have a feeling of just dragging on. I really enjoyed the first Azumi, but somewhere along the lines, that feeling of drama and depth were lost in this sequel.

I liked this movie more than the first one because it was a little less disturbing and had a lot more feeling. There were several action scenes and a few twists along the way. I honestly think the first movie was written for men and the second was written for women. It's worth checking out if you saw the first one or want something that isn't too serious but full of action.

Loved it because of the great acting, new characters, interesting fight scenes, but the only thing was her recapturing the past a little too much.

A little darker than the first movie, but more character development on Ueto's portrayal of Azumi this time around. I look forward to her development as an acress and future roles in this series or other projects.

For a sequel, this was a great movie. Great fighting, decent storyline makes this a must see. I especially loved the spinning double blade weapon. I'm thinking of Tesai from Ninja Scroll for those into Anime.

Well the story board was pretty well articulated but the sword fight left a little short although there is quite a bit a fighting overall. The actress you who plays azumi is absolutely gorgeous so it makes up for the lack of good fights. The costumes were ridiculous whoever art directed this must have been on something although the setting were pretty and well thought out overall not a bad flick and worth watching for Azumi's outfit.

I think the description of this movie starts off with part of a description of another movie. I have no idea how three generations of Indian women with mental illness wound up anywhere near the plot of a fuedal assassin story.

If you enjoyed the original Azumi film, you'll definitely like the sequel. I personally enjoyed this movie over the original as it has much better character development and does a good job of showing how Azumi has been emotionally affected by the events from the first movie. For those of you just looking for action scenes, there are actually fewer this time around but I really didn't even realize it until the end. While it's not entirely necessary, it does help to have seen the first film to understand the characters a little better, but the film does have a few flashback scenes that help inform the uninitiated. If you're a fan of Japanese movies and don't mind the low-budget special effects and occasionally cheesy dialog, Azumi 2 is a hidden gem.
