A reporter gets more than she bargained for when she tries to prove that a murder has occurred in Brian De Palma's disturbing thriller. Danielle (Margot Kidder) meets Phillip (Lisle Wilson) on a "Peeping Tom"-themed game show and, dodging her ex-husband Emil (William Finley), takes him back to her apartment. But Danielle has a separated Siamese twin sister, Dominique, who is not pleased about the overnight guest. Journalist neighbor Grace (Jennifer Salt) sees Phillip slaughtered by one of them through her window; the body vanishes before she can convince a skeptical detective (Dolph Sweet) to take a look. Determined to prove that she's right (and get a career-advancing story), Grace investigates, assisted by a private eye (Charles Durning), and becomes more involved in the relationships among Danielle, Dominique, and Emil than she ever expected. ~ Lucia Bozzola, Rovi

First of all, this movie is not for kids. It is violent, bloody, demented and weird, and has some nudity. I checked this movie out because of the director, and this early effort sounded just unusual enough for me to like. It was a pleasant surprise. It is sick, twisted and nightmarish. The narrative was quite good. Although the story is about the title characters, it is told from the point of view of the two victims. The long nightmare sequence toward the end was odd, but at least it's memorable and it somehow worked. The score was good and fitting, very unsettling. And I never realized how beautiful Margot Kidder was.

This is probably one of the best non-Hitchcock American thriller. Usually you want a good thriller you see a Hitchcock film or an Italian giallo but this is a real shocker. From director Brian De Palma this is a really good suspense film with all the necessary elements. It conveys an eerie atmosphere all revolving around a murder. To top it all off we have a lovely score by the great Bernard Herman (Psycho). And also for people who didn't like the storyline and thought it was to slow I suggest you develop a longer attention span or stick to you mindless action films. And finally the reason the blood was so bright and unrealistic is because before Dick Smiths formula (which he created in the very late 70's and is still used today) films used what is called M3 blood which looked like melted crayon. But that's all they had. If look at any film before 1979 you will see the M3 blood. From Dawn of the Dead to Bay Of Blood. I personally like it and I think it enhance the beauty of the film.

Here's a good one for psychological thriller with a hint of slasher film buffs. You won't find many reviewers of this because its an older film therefore the teenies aren't aware of it. Take a chance on this one.

Excellent movie, great plot! Margot Kidder gets FIVE STARS for her brilliant performance in this shocker and an ending that will leave you very surprised. I didn't realize what a great actress Kidder is. I also saw her in another movie where she played a possessive, demented mother who overprotects her son, and she was fantastic! If you like thrillers with an unusual twist and ending, this one won't disappoint. And, Kidder adds tremendously to the plot and acting. Great movie!

Somehow, as I started watching the first third, I realized that I had seen this film before on TV about 5 years ago. I know I don't have a siamese twin. I mean, if there was no body...

This movie was absolutely ridiculous! Bad acting, the blood looked exactly like red paint and STUPID story! Don't waste your time. I didn't: I watched 20 min. and turned it off.

If you liked Carrie, you might like this... but I doubt it. If you liked Psycho, you'll regret watching this travesty.
