This is a great movie. Saw it in the theatre and is still one of our favorites. We named our son after Kevin Klines character "Paden". Was this review helpful? Yes

I've seen this film a number of times and deem it a first class western.
The acting is excellent with varied personalites and characterizations..
the very young Kevin Costner would go on to fame and greater
productions..why don't they make them like this again??? 4 stars! Was this review helpful? Yes

This is one of my favorite movies. Just an incredible cast - even done to the smaller roles. Kevin Kline, Kevin Costner, Scott Gleen, Danny Glover with Brian Dennehey and Jeff Goldblum as the bad guys. The four good guys do battle against the bad guys for many reasons. Kevin Costner stills the show but Kevin Kline shows what a good guy should be. Drama, violence, wonderful score - Brian Dennehey gets 4 stars for his death scene - a perfect twirl and drop. If you either.. a) like a movie that has multiple 'main' characters, each with their own story, or b) like a movie with a star-studded cast, or c) like westerns particularly set with, not overdone, but subtle and witty humor, or d) like all of the above...
..Then there's a good chance you will love this movie. It's one of my favorite movies for these reasons, and I don't even place Westerns high on my list of favorite genres. Rent it, you'll love it! Was this review helpful? Yes

If there are two words that can adequately describe 1985 Western Silverado, those words would be "fun" and "quirky." An ode to the genre but at the same time a film with its own unique identity, Silverado takes the Western, digs up every cliché in the book, and assembles them into a rollicking good time that's the ultimate in escapist entertainment. Corrupt lawmen, outlaws turned heroes, mysterious characters, revenge, shifting allegiances, stampedes, six shooters, lever action rifles, saloons, dusty center-town standoffs and, yes, even tumbleweeds, all make an appearance. It's a laundry list of classic Western motifs, props, and settings, but it's all delivered here with an obvious yet nevertheless decidedly understated wink and a nod to all that have come before it in the genre that's as American as baseball and apple pie Was this review helpful? Great music, scenery, and the good guys win. Can't think of anything better. I had to laugh at the gunfights though, the good guys never miss, and the bad guys can't seem to hit anybody, and when they do, the good guy only gets wounded, never killed Was this review helpful? Yes

I give this movie 1 star because it was terrible. The dialogue was pitiful and the violence was excessive and not necessary. The charactor development was non existent. Kevin Costners charactor was the only redeeming part of the movie. Was this review helpful? Yes
