Shoot to Kill (1988) Reviews

Shoot to Kill (1988)
Member Rating:
Sidney Poitier makes his long-overdue return to films in the 1988 thriller Shoot to Kill. Poitier plays an FBI agent, on the trail of an elusive killer. Reluctantly teamed with tracker Tom Berenger, the citified Poitier braves the wilds of the Pacific Northwest in search of his quarry. For Berenger, the pursuit is personal; the killer, whose identity is not immediately revealed, has joined a hunting party being guided through the country by the tracker's girlfriend Kirstie Alley. Though only bearing the slightest resemblance to Real Life (you'll love the scene between lifelong city-dweller Poitier and a huge grizzly bear), Shoot to Kill delivers the goods in the suspense department. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

I watched this movie when it was released in the theater, and I enjoyed it. When it was out on DVD I rented it and watched it with some friends, no one in the group could guess who the killer was. A tight action/drama (some humor) movie. A MUST SEE for Sidney Poitier fans.

Excellent movie ~ one of my all time favorites. The rapport between Poitier and Berenger is great. Great acting, great scenery. Thrilling with some comedy thrown in. Imho this is a must see!

Love it. One of the best action-adventure-suspense films of the 80's. It's like non-stop but does drop off a little after the opening.

The opening scenes really set the tone for this movie. You get a glimpse into the mind of both the killer and the FBI agent who is trying to stop him. The movie does a good job of keeping you guessing, but reveals who the killer is a little too soon. Although the movie is a bit dated now, it's certainly worth a rent! The superb acting makes this classic something you can watch more than once.

Starts great but fizzles out. Supppose to be thinking WHO IS THE SUSPECT. Problem is you knew from the beginning.
