The story of fictional18th Century serial killer Sweeny Todd has frightened theater-goers for over a century, and now the BBC brings this blood-soaked story to the small screen in a ghastly production starring Ray Winstone as the razor-wielding Demon Barber of Fleet Street. In addition to exploring the various heinous acts attributed to the London-based butcher, this production also takes a look back at the events that fueled Sweeny Todd's murderous rampage. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Better than most recent slasher movies produced by Hollywood, this portrayal of Sweeny Todd is riveting and unsetteling. Great acting and direction, it will make you wonder why more film productions are not up to this high level of vision. Ray Winstone continues to entertain and shine while leading an excellent supporting cast. No shortfalls here....it's all good from the beginning to the last scene.

Better than the Sweeney Todd of 2008 I saw this one first and the johnny depp version was a let down... 5 stars, I loved this movie !

This was a REALLY GOOD MOVIE. I saw the original Broadway production in New York City with Angela Landsbury. It was incredible. I was not disappointed at all with this movie. It went into details the play could not address due to time restraints. Check it out.

A lot of blood and gore with no plot at all except the barber had a sick connection to the leading female role.....whoever she was. She played a decent part but she was definitely at a disadvantage due to the ridicilous story.

This movie was impecably made. Quietly creepy with the charac ters begging for our sympathy even as they cruelly slice, dice and cook their unsuspecting but often deserving victims.

This made for TV movie takes many different elements from the several versions of the Sweeney Todd story and mashes them into one. Like many TV movies it can not revive this classic tale in a worth while way. While it was a good effort, I do not think I would recommend it. It was overly dramatic, disturbing, and over all a disappointment . It does not do Sweeney justice. If you are a Sweeney Todd fan stick to the musical versions.

Really good movie, but since I saw the one with Johnny Depp first, I missed all the singing. Really sweet characters Mr. Todd & Mrs. Lovett, the whole movie is very different from the Hollywood version. (Which I Love! especially the singing, not to mention Johnny, Helena & Alan) Watch Both!

Maybe I hated it because I've seen the play, which is amazing. It was slow and boring. I actually turned it off before it was over because I just couldn't take it any more. Maybe I just wasn't ready for the film adapted version in which the back story and story line is much different than the play. The overall story is still good but it made me want to dig out my eyes with a spoon.

This is not a musical in the caliber of the Producers or Chicago. There is so little dialouge, and the lyrics are so difficult to understand, that I found myself groaning everytime they broke into song, which was constantly ( it was very frustrating yet at the same time boring). My husband Made it about 20 minutes before he fell asleep. I understand that those who love straight gore will like it, though even that was repetitive and all on the last 1/3 of the movie. On a positive note, the style of filming was beautiful, as well as costumes and the ending caught me off guard.
