Family Matters and Camp Cucamonga mainstay Jaleel White headlines the rollicking, direct-to-video urban comedy Who Made the Potatoe Salad?, helmed by Damon 'Coke' Daniels and co-starring Clifton Powell, Eddie Griffin (Undercover Brother) and Deray Davis (Barbershop 2: Back in Business). White stars as Michael, a San Diego police officer who travels to the L.A. home of his intended, Angela (Jennia Frederique), to meet her outrageous, eccentric family and officially announce their wedding plans. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
Despite the negative reviews we've read on this film, we enjoyed it. It was not meant to win any academy awards. It was meant to entertain and that's what it does. If you are looking to bust a gut by yourself, share a laugh with a significant other or entertain a few family/friends who stopped by (invited or not) this one is for you. Just be sure that none are easily offended and no film critics are included in the bunch. It is what it is...strictly fun and entertainment. Lighten up and enjoy!!!
This movie delivers what I expected...a low budget comedy with its funny moments. I would describe it as a mix between Friday and Meet the Parents...with more influence coming from Friday.
I thought this would be a funny movie when I saw that Jaleel White was starring in it. And let's face it, the story line sounded funny! Unfortunately I was put off big time by the foulest language I have heard in a long time. Even some of the actors looked uncomfortable saying their lines. It didn't take me long at all to pull it out of my dvd player. Why do some people think you have to be this way to be funny? To me it was no where near the funny meter.
I watched this movie not really expecting much from it, and I have to say it exceeded my expections. Yes it is a little low budget, with some unnecccesary and akward moments. But it's also hilarious. If you aren't offended by certain language and like goofy humor you should enjoy it. I recommend it to anyone into comedies like The Wash, Soul Plane, etc.
I thought this movie was going to be at least a little funny....NOT....I stopped watching it half way thru, so perhaps my review isn't fair. But this was just dumb. And i have watched some dumb movies from start to finish. I have to let the person who raved about this movie know, never ever recommend anything to me again!!!!
It people were expecting this to be some blockbuster hit, they were mistaken. it is, what it is. A low-budget comedy. So if you go in with no expectations, then you don't need to trip when you're watching.
It was actually pretty funny.
Stunning true to life comedy, well acted and written.
A few things could be better such as,
Maybe making Jaleel white Powerfully deliver such lines like "Do you have any cheese?" or "Did i do that?"
also... i didnt see one sign of Carl & Eddie Winslow. They could possible include these character in "Who made the Potatoe salad 2 The rebirth of Urkelbot"
The only thing that makes me upset is that i was never told WHO MADE THE POTATOE SALAD!
im guessing laura winslow
