In the wake of such Satanic-themed thrillers as Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist and The Omen comes The Sentinel. When New York fashion model (Cristina Raines) splits with her fiance (Chris Sarandon) and moves into an old brownstone, she soon discovers she has more than she bargained for in the lease. As luck would have it, a mysterious blind priest (John Carradine) who lives upstairs happens to be guarding the doorway to Hell, and she has been chosen as his replacement. Incidentally, when the door is finally opened, out spills an assortment of deformed humans whom director Michael Winner hand-picked from hospital wards and circus sideshows. ~ Jeremy Beday, Rovi

1st of all this movie was not hard to understand at all!, so I don't know why one reviewer on here stated as such. It's pretty easy to gather by the end what was happening trough out. This 1977 horror about a young beautiful model who rents an apartment in a Brooklyn Heights brownstone that contains some very strange tenants. This film is very creepy and the last 10 minutes are stomach turning.. without giving away the climax, too much.. The film contains actual human oddities in the films final minutes that had caused some controversy back in it's release.

I read the book when the book first came out and couldn't wait to see the movie. While books usually surpass the movies, this one runs neck and neck with it. Good horror and suspense rolled into one. Remember this is a 70's movie and you will not be disappointed. For its time it caused quite a stir.

I loved this movie ever since I saw it as a little girl. What makes this movie compelling are the spiritual themes, ever-present; humans trying to find their way to fulfill their purpose while the forces of good and evil are at constant work in the name of the Grand Design. It was made in the 70's and has to be appreciated in that mode.

Sort of a Rosemary's Baby meets The Tenent (both great films too). This film has always been one of my favorites, and it's really worth watching. The words twisted and interesting come to mind when I think about the plot and the characters. It's also pretty packed with star power (Ava Gardner, Chris Sarandon, Beverly D'Angelo, Christopher Walken, Jeff Goldblum, etc).

This is a good old fashioned horror film. It is really a strange movie that will give you the creeps. There are tons of great actors in it too like Burgess Meredith, Christopher Walken, Beverly DeAngelo, and many more. A must see for any horror fan.

Great horror flick! This movie has some scenes that give me goosebumps just thinking about them. The scene with her father . . . hint hint. I highly recommend this film! As others have mentioned, the end of the movie is a bit weird but I feel only adds to this films mystique. If you like scary movies then you shoudl rent this one and watch it in the dark!

This 1976 Satanic Italian/American movie surprised me a lot. I will start with the let down of this movie which was the long excessive unnecessary nudity. Otherwise, probably one of the scariest movie moments is in this movie, when the main characters adventures upstairs, bad idea. You will be freaked out there. Anyways good, creepy story and is not too confusing. This is also Christopher Walken and Jeff Goldblums first movie.

This movie made no sense and was completely stupid. The movie started out creepy, but then just dropped to terrible. This movie is not scary and you will not understand it. Bad Movie!!!
