I'm Growing Scarce (2006)
Circumstances force a filmmaker to reexamine his attitudes about his art and creative principles in this personal project from writer and director Dante Desarthe. Daniel Danite (Desarthe) has spent months putting together his next movie, an ambitious big-budget affair starring Juliette Binoche, but when his star and his financing disappear, the director finds himself starting from scratch. While Daniel has long believed that real filmmaking means shooting on thirty-five millimeter stock, a friend persuades him that ultra-low-budget digital video projects are the wave of the future, and with few resources available to him, Daniel swallows his pride and decides to give it a try. Putting together a makeshift crew and a cast willing to work for next to nothing, Daniel sets out to make a down-and-dirty DV project, but the new approach proves to be a challenge to his talents and expectations, and matters become even more difficult for Daniel when his wife announces she wants a divorce. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
