In this biting comedy satirizing Hollywood cynicism from writer-director Blake Edwards, Felix Farmer (Richard Mulligan) is a motion picture director whose career is on the skids. Having just completed a family musical that is sure to be a $30 million flop, Felix knows that his days are numbered and tries unsuccessfully to commit suicide. When he recovers, Felix suddenly has a brainstorm and hatches a scheme to buy the film back from his studio and lens new scenes that will turn it into a pornographic movie with big stars, a sure-fire box office winner. In order to pull it off, he'll need to convince his female lead and wife, Sally Miles (Julie Andrews, not coincidentally the director's real-life wife) to defy her wholesome, squeaky-clean public image by baring her breasts on film. S.O.B. (1981) was the final film of legendary actor William Holden. ~ Karl Williams, Rovi

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Reason number #1 is Robert Preston playing feel-good Dr Finegarten. Every time he is on camera he owns the scene. For example, Polly Reed: "You're gonna let that SHYSTER on?" Dr. Irving Finegarten: "I could sue you for calling me that, Polly! A shyster is a disreputable lawyer. I'M a QUACK!" The rest of the cast is incredible too. William Holden, Robert Webber and Richard Mulligan among others. The writing is great throughout. Its a shame that such a great movie is usually only remembered for Julie Andrews' topless scene.

I've seen this movie more times than I can count on both hands, yet I NEVER get tired of it. It's one of the funniest movies ever. It has a cast of Hollywood legends all of whom shine in thier respective roles. My favorite was Robert Preston. He steals every scene he's in with his constant "one liners". I'm sure that if this movie didn's so accurately depict the sex & drug oriented life style of the Hollywood elite it may darn wall have been nominated for multiple academy awards. One word of caution. Adults only on this one. The language is very bad and so are the sex scenes. Nevertheless all adults ahould rent this wonderfully entertaining movie.

A truly funny movie with many sub-plots that all tie in to the main theme of the back stabbing and jockieing for position that goes on behind the scenes in hollywood. Those who are a big fan of the puritanical career of Julie Andrews will be in for a big shock when they view her topless scene. Robert Preston deserved an oscar for his role in this movie. You'll laugh so hard from beginning to end your sides will hurt.

This has to be one of the top comedies of the ages, and no wonder because it comes from Blake Edwards. Two hands full of top actors, each playing the part to the utmost funny, a fantastic story line making fun of Hollywood actors, producers, agents, the entire lot, the best that a person can get to laugh out loud while watching.
