Initially conceived as a theatrical feature, but originally aired on television in the United States, Robin Hood puts slight, but effective, twists on the legendary tale. Starring Patrick Bergin in the title role, the film follows Robin and his group of bandits as they fight Prince John and save Maid Marion (Uma Thurman). This version is a little grittier than both Errol Flynn's classic movie or the contemporary extravaganza starring Kevin Costner, since Bergin is quite down-to-earth and Thurman makes Marion into a brat, not a helpless maiden. However, these qualities and the stately photography make the film quite entertaining, and it easily equals Costner's version, even if it can't match Flynn's timeless movie. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi

I found this movie to be entertaining and believable. It was a little dated, but that's to be expected since it was made in the early 90s. The classic story of Robin Hood is portrayed nicely and believably. I like how the story line was explained in the beginning letting you know how he became Robin Hood. Anyway, I'd recommend this. It's not phenominal, especially by today's standards, but it'd a decent watch

This is an excellent version. Patrick Bergen and Uma Thurman are superb. Writing as a Costner fan, this version is equal to or maybe even better than Costner's version. Love the authentic costumes, the setting, and the acting.

Love the two leads, supporting cast, costumes, scenery, but somehow the movie fell short. Perhaps it's because Maid Marion's 21th century bravado would have gotten her locked up in the 12th century. Or perhaps it fades next to the two other films mentioned. Still, watched to the ends and enjoyed it.

A good entertaining and believeable movie on Robin Hood of Sherwood Forest. One of the best ones on that legend next to Kevin Costner's one and Crowe's one from last year.

The acting was OK at best. The plot was standard format and very predictable. The worst part was the really poor character development. It seemed like the characters kept stepping out of character; or else, I just didn't get it. It was like doing a jigsaw puzzle that's got a few pieces thrown in from the wrong box. Uma was beautiful yet dead-panned, as always.
