The first of a number of sequels to the highly successful western mini-series Lonesome Dove featured few of the same actors as the original, nor was it based on a novel by Larry McMurtry. In this outing, onetime Texas Ranger Call (Jon Voight, replacing Tommy Lee Jones) heads a group of cowboys leading horses from Texas north to Montana. This movie has it all. Gives you a glimpse into the past and what people went through to make this a great nation. Combining the good and the bad. It took me back in time. The scenery was breathtaking and the movie had a great ending. If we only had more good movies like this I would be a happy camper!

I really loved this mini-series.....even though the original "Lonesome Dove" is my all-time favorite. No, Jon Voight is not Tommy Lee Jones; but his performance as Woodrow Call is excellent as well. AWESOME!!!

EXCELLENT!!! Every bit as good as Lonesome Dove. Jon Voight as Woodrow Call was an awesome choice. The acting was superb by everyone. This mini series draws you in and makes you feel like part of the movie, as if you are standing there watching it all happen.
