Benito (1993)
Member Rating:
Antonio Banderas steps into the shoes of Italian Fascist dictator and prime minister Benito Mussolini in director Gian Luigi Calderone's epic biopic. From his stratospheric rise through the ranks of the socialist party to his youthful turn as the local chief of the Italian Socialist Party and his keen ability to turned leftist factions against one and other, Mussolini's treacherous rise to power is documented in vivid and illuminating detail. A one-time anti-war campaigner whose opportunistic nature led him to become one of history's most notorious tyrants, Mussolini would ultimately find himself on the brink of collapse as he turned his back on the pacifists who pressed for neutrality and sold his soul to the unflinchingly conservative government. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I agree. Blockbuster online should be like the in-store Blockbuster, consider a movie containing 2 disks be one rental. I think it is absurd to have bonus features count as a separate rental. This case, I watched 3 hrs. 20 mins. of the movie and it asked for a second disc. Are you kidding?! After watching so long, I can't finish a 5 hr. movie because there is an hour an a half of disc 2?! How does one even know the length of the movie and if it is distributed among two discs? Hopefully someone can do something regarding this issue and make everyone happy.

Seriously flawed. Its as if they stared out to make a 7-disk saga chronicling every moment of Mussolini's career but ran out of money before point he came to power. Just watch the end on Disk 2 and you'll see what I mean.... on second Benito is fencing some dude and the next second a cheezy announcer comes on to briefly say...." Band Benito went on to to do this and that... Quick, roll the credits". Think twice before you rent this one.... it includes nothing of Mussolini time in power and the dubbed voices get real old real fast.

Fantastic movie. Well acted and explains the evolution of Mussolini which is missing on many of the other movies that focus on his later days. You have to watch this one first and then watch the other movies and you will see the whole story. Antonio Banderas does a good job of showing the personality of Mussolini when he was young and how he became the person he did.
