Forest Whitaker, Dennis Quaid, William Hurt, and Matthew Fox star in director Pete Travis' Rashomon-style thriller in which an assassination attempt on the president of the United States is detailed from five unique perspectives. As the president arrives in Salamanca, gunshots ring out. An American tourist (Whitaker) has captured footage of the would-be assassin on videotape, and now, as the stories of the other four witnesses unfold, each essential piece of the puzzle quickly falls into place. Only when all of the stories are told will the chilling truth to this shocking crime finally emerge. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
Awesome movie, best action/drama movie I've seen this year -- and if you read my other reviews, I've panned a lot of them. This one had a really interesting plot and well thought out so that the pieces all fell into place. Only two critiques: (1) my wife didn't like the way they kept rewinding the story to tell it from different "vantage points" (which I didn't mind at all, because it was well done, but that was her opinion), and (2) at the very end, the bad guys did *one* thing that I thought was totally unrealistic, especially considering how ruthless they were otherwise. However, those are really nitpicks. It was great!
Before I rented this movie, I checked the member reviews. Some said it was 5-star, some 2-star; so I rented it. My opinion; it was not as good as I would have wanted it to be. It shows the same scene over, and over again (even though it was for a legit reason), but it got to be quit boring. I think the best part of the movie was Whittaker. I love his acting. Besides that, it was a little bit of a waste of time. Not the big thriller I was expected.
This is a dog with fleas....it was absolutely TIRESOME watching the same scene 8 different times, from 8 different vantage points - although, it was interesting the first two times...but by the LAST one, GEEEEEEZ ! It got REALLY OLD ! I predicted every outcome at the end of this movie....the little girl who lost her mommy, and somehow finds her in a crowd of thousands (it's a miracle !) - Forrest Whitacker somehow manages to film the entire terrorist's plot all on his handheld camera, from hunches he seems to figure out during the panic from the shooting and bombings (ya right !)....President (William Hurt) somehow survives a miraculous fate as the van he's in flips over a zillion times...and all with no seat belt (ANOTHER MIRACLE !) Nice "double" of the president, too, as the fake one gets BLASTED (ya right !) - Way to unbelievable here ! In fact, that "double"-thing was too stupid ! Way too predictable for my tastes ! Randy Quaid does a fair job, but that's about it.
IM IN THE 30-40 AGE RANGE AND WHEN I SAW CLIPS OF THIS MOVIE I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE EXCELLANT, AND IF YOU TAKE OUT THE CONSTANT REWINDS IT WOUL'VE BEEN, JUST AS YOU GET INTO IT IT REWINDS, THAT WAS NERVE RACKING BUT GOOD PLOT GOOD ACTING
This movie was well acted. I didn't think I was going to like it but when I watched more, I liked it. I didn't think that Matthew Fox's character was going to be so bad. He started out to be a good guy. But went over to the other side. He planned the whole thing.
One good movie, not the best I've ever seen but pretty good, it is just one BIG surprise the whole way!!! But the ending was a HUGE surprise. I think you should go rent it then if you do like it buy it then. I liked it i won't watch it right away but i will again sometime. Dennis Quaid was perfect for this part.
