A lonely stretch of highway leads to a date with terror in this thriller. Jim Halsey (Zachary Knighton) and Grace Andrews (Sophia Bush) are a young couple in the midst of a long-distance road trip when, during a rainstorm, they take pity on a hitchhiker, John Ryder) (Sean Bean), and give him a lift. Jim and Grace soon come to regret their benevolence when Ryder reveals himself as a violent madman determined to see them dead. Luck is with Jim and Grace, and they're able to throw off Ryder and get back on the road, but as it happens their troubles are just beginning. Ryder has already killed a handful of people and is planting evidence that suggests Jim and Grace are the murderers; now the couple is on the run from the law as they search for Ryder in a bid to clears their names. The Hitcher is a remake of the 1986 cult horror classic of the same name; the new version was produced by Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller, who previously produced remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Amityville Horror. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

A definite must see for psycho slasher blood and guts film fans. Nothing new or creative, it's your typical psycho killer film, but if like those, you'll like this one. Sure glad I didn't read Ernesto V's review before I saw the movie, he gives away the ending, so don't read it!!

None of the real Critics liked The Hitcher, and most of the reviews also did not like it. But I loved it, it's a whole lot better than the original. It has a lot of action that keeps you on the edge of your seat through out the whole movie. It has a lot of blood and it is Very Gory at times.

Ehhh. It was okay. I like Sean Bay, especially when he plays a bad guy. But the plot was typical slasher-type. Check you brain at the door and DON'T ask logical questions like "How did he KNOW they were there?"

I like this movie, it turned out better then I though. The one thing I did not like about it is that the girl had so many chances to shot him and everytime she did she would scream that she had a gun. In the time she told him she had a gun she could have killed him... Really! It was a great thriller the action started right away. Sean Bean was very good in this role. It really is worth the tine to watch.

Parts meant to be suspenseful were slow and predictable. Most parts very unbelievable. Apparently the original is a cult classic (have never seen it) but I'm guessing the story had to change a little because I felt the ending to be very, very weak. 90 minute movie felt like 3 hours.

Total waste of time. I sadly watched the whole thing waiting for it to turn into a decent flick, but it fell short in every instance. Less than average acting, strange music choice for action scenes, over use of f-bombs to make up for boring dialog, and an ending that seemed rushed, like the director knew this movie would tank and just wanted it to be done. Stare at a blank wall or watch grass grow for a better use of time.
