Three twentysomethings learn the hard way about how to behave in a cemetery in this independent horror story. Harris (Dominic Purcell), Sid (Marcus Thomas), and Kira (Josie Maran) are three longtime friends who are reunited under unfortunate circumstances when their pal Devin dies in an auto accident. After attending Devin's funeral, the three stage an impromptu wake at a nearby roadhouse, and after lots of drinking they return to his grave to pay their final respects. Sid finds a note on Devin's grave which contains what appear to be lyrics to a song; the revelers begin singing the song and dancing around the cemetery, trampling the nearby graves. It isn't long before Devin's friends discover they've made a serious mistake; the poem they sang was actually a magic spell, and by reciting it as they disrespect the dead they've awakened angry spirits, who begin terrorizing them in their homes. Worst of all, paranormal investigator Vincent (Tchéky Karyo) informs Harris that there's only one sure way to stop the ghosts from bothering them -- death. The Gravedancers received its world premiere at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

I really liked this movie up until the end. There were some creepy parts and all but the ending was so cheesy that it ruined it all for me. It seemed like they spent their whole budget on the majority of the film but in the end switched back to old school graphics for the finale. Worth renting but not the 16 bucks for the theatre.

I saw this movie at the After Dark horror film festival and unlike most of the other flicks I saw there, this one was pretty entertaining. It had some cool concepts, and the ghosts looked very unique. I dug it. It was far from perfect though. it's not really scary, and the acting is pretty atrocious, but the dialoge can be witty, and the plot-line is pretty original. worth a rental.

The ghosts were very cool looking. Especially the old man with his Pumpkinhead'ish appearance. There were a few parts that were very creepy, but...that was about it. Dominic Purcell did a good job but some of the other acting was horrible, as was most of the dialog. I kept sitting and waiting for more but as the movie got to the end, I only received less. This was my first watch of the 8 fest movies, so I'm hoping the other 7 may live up to the hype.

I would highly recommend this movie to those that love spooky movies, but do not care for the gore. Yes, there are a few gory parts, however, it is no where near the gore that seems abundant in today's movies. The storyline is well written, and the acting is pretty good, the lead man (he played the 'original' vampire in the last Blade movie) and husband in the movie is a bit stiff, but that seems to be his body type and not his acting, per say. The ghost that haunts the woman is actually a real man's body. The actor had just completed cancer treatment, his body was actually that frail - special features section of the film. The bottom line of this is be very careful where you tread, and how you tread, as you do not know who you may be disrespecting... the only disappointment for me was the ending. That is the only part of the movie that seems thrown together and a bit amateurish.

I really enjoyed this movie. I do have to admit that the ending did get cheesy but up until then it was pretty darn good. Personally I think it was the sound of the movie which gave it its creepiness, it made me jump several times. The bug eyed creatures gave me the willies. It's worth seeing.

This is the best of the first 8FTDF series. The idea of the plot is unsettling and the filming becomes very spooky. If the director made a denser atmosphere this could have been a really creepy flick. Great movie throughout except the horrible CGI ending. That was disappointing

I have watched a few of these After Dark films and this was the best one. Like one of the other reviewers wrote, I can see why the other ones did not make it to the theatre, but this I think could have made it. When I got it, I really did not expect it to be as good as it was, I was just hoping since I have not seen a real horror movie in a long time. This one is not the best that i have seen, but it did make me jump a couple of times and the ghost were nicely done. I think if you like horror movies this one is worth checking out!

this movie was mildly amusing despite the ridiculous plot of people getting drunk and dancing on graves. the getting haunted by the people. but it took a terrible turn when they started talking to ghost hunters. the ending is terrible and the ghost is a ridiculoous big head. I would have to say i enjoyed watching 2 girls and a cup more than this garbage

It wasn't that bad of a movie, though all of my friends either went home or fell asleep watching it. I thought it was pretty interesting. The ghosts were unlike any I've seen before and they freaked me out. Worth watching once. Plus, Dominic Purcell isn't bad to look at.
