A fearsome samurai hungering for the ultimate challenge is forced to do battle with a powerful temple monk intent on preventing ultimate destruction in an action-packed swordplay adventure in which the fate of the world lies in a mysterious coffin. Grave (Tak Sakaguchi) is a samurai whose power is unequaled by mortal man. In his desperate quest to find a suitable foe with whom to do battle, Grave steals an ancient coffin from the Tougan Temple said to contain the mythical Goddess of Destruction. Now, as Grave drags the coffin across the countryside in search of a way to pry it open and unleash the power contained inside, a temple monk charged with the task of ensuring the safety of mankind sets out to stop Grave from freeing the Goddess of Destruction even if it means sacrificing his own life in the process. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

This film was the first good anime-made-in-real-life that I liked. At first I was worried because there was lots of make-up and stuff and some flying through the air...something that usually spells C-A-M-P, but I was pleasantly suprised with a movie that followed anime tradition to a T. Examples include impatient benevalent warriors who refuse to use theri weapons till the very last moment. Children advanced beyond their time. Nearly silent characters that only speak for the sake of dark humor and to establish a pretext for each battle. A+

I'll be the first to admit, you might have to watch his twice for it to make any sense to you. You also might want to brush up on some Japanese mythology. But, as an eternal fan of Tokyo-shock flicks, I loved this movie. Tak Sakaguchi portrayed Grave perfectly, I doubt anyone else could master the sarcastic humor and do their own stunts as well as he does. The movie describes itself as "An unknown place...An unknown time" which allows all the costume and drama of Japanese period films, and all the motrocycles and actions of modern-day films. If you're a fan of versus, i would definitely recommend this one. Addditionally, all the music for the movie is done by the highly capable Visual-kei band "Dir en Grey" (Wai!)

This was a surprisingly good movie. I didn't even intend to rent it at first, i just liked the cover art. But man, this is one of my favorite movies of all time. Great characters, action, and a unique story.

If you're looking for an action film, look no farther. What's not to like ? The acting, directing, cinematography, writing, action choreography, soundtrack, special effects and scenery were very good. The writing is particularly so well done that many of the character's reactions were unexpected. Though the movie is just over 90 minutes long, there's wall to wall action with lots of cool characters. The fight scenes are brutal, continuous and creative. It's recommended to choose the Japanese language option as the English dub option makes everyone sound ridiculous. While the focus is on action, there are moments that are truly funny. The 5.1 Surround audio option made very good use of surround sound and is best listened to with the volume cranked up. As for extras, there's a trailer for the movie, a "Making Of Death Trance" featurette (8:00 min), an "Interview with Tak Sakaguchi" (14:22 min) and trailers for four other films. Definitely recommended.

From the team that brought you VERSUS, here comes another (no-brainer) action fantasy. So just sit back, and have fun watching it, because anything goes in this movie.

Need I say more! This movie was truly bad. It was slow in some parts, confusing in others. It just was not worth renting. If it were free < iwould not recommend it to anyone. It was simply that bad.

Geez, did this movie suck. The 2 people that gave this movie a good review are nuts. The plot was completely weird. The action was stupid. I can't really think of a single positive thing to say about it. I decided to rent it because I saw a trailer for it that looked good. But this is just another lame movie with a good trailer. PLEASE DO NOT EVEN BOTHER WITH THIS NUT-FILLED TURD.

I saw the preview on another DVD and thought it looked interesting; I was fooled. It was long and boring and must be meaningful to someone -- but it was lost on me. The Special Features at least informed me that it was based on a Japanese cartoon character. So perhaps there is a following here. For me, nothing. If you know nothing about this, don't bother. It meant nothing to me and was not entertaining at all. And yes, I stuck it out hoping for the best -- and got the worst.
