Bill Murray co-directed (along with Howard Franklin) this mixture of The Out-of-Towners and After Hours, concerning Grimm (Bill Murray), a frustrated city planner who is fed up with the corruption and venality of New York City. Getting together a couple of accomplices -- Phyllis (Geena Davis), who admires Grimm for his audacity, and Loomis (Randy Quaid), a follower to Grimm's leader since grade school -- Grimm decides to rob a bank, pocket the money, get out of town and take off to tropical splendor. Dressing in a clown suit, Grimm devises a unique way to rob a bank -- taking a group of hostages at the bank and inviting the police to surround the bank. Amazingly, although pursued by a police chief (Jason Robards), the trio manage to pull off the robbery. However, the problems really start when they try to get from the bank to the airport -- which proves to be more difficult than the robbery. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi
I am a fan of Bill Murray, especially of his later work. Unfortunately, this movie was about as lame as they come. It seemed the comic timing was off, and the movie lacked solid direction. Good actors seen floundering as in this film is a bit painful to watch.
I had never heard of this movie, since i love Bill Murray i decided to check his resume and i found this little forgotten gem. Rent, you will not be dissapointed. seeing his face painted in clown make up was something else. Also Randy Quaid was pretty good in this.
i love this quirky little movie! it still makes me laugh! Bill Murray and Jason Robards stand out but the entire cast is great. Rent this if you wish to laugh-it is especailly funny if you live in the NYC area.
This is funny movie. Bill Murray and Geena Davis work well together. Randy Quaid is...well...Randy Quaid. The bank robbery was well-planned, but you have to suspend a bit of disbelief to enjoy how the trio pull it off. Certainly nothing like this could have been successful in real life. But just go with it...it's a comedy.
Excellent comedy. Bill Murray robs a bank as a clown and hillarity ensues. He and his accomplices just can't get to the airport.
Randy Quaid is the perfect edition to this cast. Mindless Fun. Jason Robards is great as the police chief! Enjoy.
