The youngest foot soldiers for the Lord are shown in their native environment in this documentary. Becky Fischer is a children's pastor who runs "Kids on Fire," a summer camp for evangelical Christian children in North Dakota. Fischer believes in the political and moral importance of a Christian presence in America, and uses her camp to reinforce the religious training most of her charges are already receiving at home (the majority of the campers are home-schooled by their parents). Using video games, animated videos, and group activities to help put her message across, Fischer encourages the kids to pray for George W. Bush and his Supreme Court appointees while urging them to help "take back America for Christ." For the most part, the children seem reasonably ordinary beyond the fact they pray with uncommon fervor and sometimes speak in tongues. Along with Fischer and her cohorts, Jesus Camp features interviews with Ted Haggard, an evangelist and advisor to George W. Bush, and Mike Papantonio, a Christian talk-show host who believes the right-wing slant of many Christian evangelists is taking the church into a dangerous direction. Jesus Camp was directed by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady, who previously made the acclaimed The Boys of Baraka. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Great documentary! It is sad that some religious groups use fear to spread their message. It is easiest to scare children, have them feel guilty, and ask to be saved. To recruit kids so young in efforts to spread a message of fear and intolerance is horrible. I watched this film one time. I wanted to watch it again, but it was so disturbing to me that I couldn't bring myself to it. Though it was a good film.

It is deplorable that the Evangelicals are allowed to brainwash children like this.

These people are clinically insane. They need to be dropped into the middle of Pakistan and we'll see how brave they are with their forced religion then.

Im not Christian. I would reccommend this movie to anyone because just shows what kind of people we got here in America. I found some parts funny and some pathetic. Very interesting movie. RENT IT.

This documentary provides a horrifying look into the modern day Evangelical Christian indoctrination of the young. What makes the film so terrifying is the mental and emotional abuse inflicted upon the innocent by their ignorant, emotionally stunted leaders. It'™s a tragedy that not everyone realizes that force-feeding a construct of fear, guilt and lies to children is the worst possible form of child abuse. I can only hope that most of the children from this movie will grow up to realize that they were lied to by those they trusted most and that this realization will allow them to regain what they've had taken from them.

I have been going to Christian youth camps for years, and have been involved in preaching them and teaching classes as well. This movie can not be used as a guide to judge all youth camps, because this one is extreme by even my standards. Please don't judge all Christian camps by what you see in this movie!

GREAT FILM, but not a great film if you're a christian fanatic idiot. The movie is good in that it exposed the stupidity in fanaticism. You will want to throw up as you see 5 year olds crying and talking to a life-size cardboard cut out of President Bush. Hopefully movies like these will shed some light on how stupidity can go in such a pathetic direction. Religion is fine, but this movie exposes brain-washing and lost children who think that they actually are the only remaining pure souls on earth. Scary to watch, but comforting to know that these kinds of fanatic idiots will not last.

This movie does a great job of capturing simply what happens at an evangelical Christian camp. It doesn’t interject opinions, and proves its point entirely on letting the camera just record what goes on. If it wasn’t so disturbing watching a 7 year old girl be upset that she was “dancing for the flesh” instead of “dancing for Jesus” it could be used to market this camp. It really say much, just records what happens. I cannot fathom how these individuals think what they are doing is Gods Word; they actually have the children “talk” to a life size cut out of George W. Bush. This movie will stick with you.

How twisted is the mind that fears a message urging people to love one another. Over 2500 manuscripts testify it was the greatest love story ever told. What is it about Jesus that scares people so? Consider the alternative, Sharia law...convert or else.
