Visionary director Spike Jonze brings Maurice Sendak's beloved children's book to the big screen with the help of hipster icon Dave Eggers, who teamed with Jonze to pen the adapted screenplay. A mixture of real actors, computer animation, and live puppeteering, Where the Wild Things Are follows the adventures of a young boy named Max (Max Records) as he enters the world of the Wild Things, a race of strange and enormous creatures who gradually turn the young boy into their king. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Very odd movie, I'm still not sure if it's for kids or not once you get past the large muppets to the underlying theme. I don't recall the book being that dark.

This movie was terrible and rather boring, I ended up only watching it to see if it ever picked up. The plot was too subtle for a kids movie and the plot too generic and boring for adults. You never idetified to the characters. Skip it.

Found it a bit disappointing concidering the people involved in it. Glad I did not spend the big bucks to see this on the Big Screen. The costumes were a bit primitive with todays special effects, the acting was not what I have come to expect from kids movies, and quite frankly my kids even said that this was moving Way too slow.

My kids loved the book. So we rented this movie thinking it would be geared towards kids. I should have read the reviews first before renting the movie. This is a terrible movie for kids and showed them behavior that I didn't want them to learn. My kids were horrified at some of the actions and behaviors in the movie and we ended up shutting it off part way through.

I kept waiting to discover the plot of this story and some type of redeeming lesson to be learned by the young boy. I couldn't see it coming, so I gave up watching half way through.

Strange movie. Not for kids, but about what kids go through with divorce?

It was about relationships and family. I found it interesting, but it really wasn't made for children. I enjoyed the relationships between the creatures and with Max. I found it quite emotive and symbolic. Loved the wild Things, too.
