Co-directors Leila Conners Petersen and Nadia Conners conduct interviews with some of the world's leading scientists and creative thinkers in a film that asks whether or not it's too late to avoid the ecological disaster that looms ominously on the horizon. In addition to exploring how the human race has arrived at this crucial point in history, conversations with 50 leading thinkers, scientists, and leaders including former Soviet prime minister Mikhail Gorbachev, world-renowned scientist Stephen Hawking, and sustainable design experts Bruce Mau and William McDonough to find out just what humankind can do about the most pressing issues of our time. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
The 11th Hour - Certainly a good movie and worth seeing. But for a movie named "The 11th Hour" it sure started awful soft and calm. They should have started with the many hard hitting facts and had a more urgent theme. Many jaw dropping facts were either not mentioned or mentioned far too late in the movie. I've seen e-mails with much more of a punch and hard facts.
The content is well organized and narrated. It has very interesting footage of our planet and a lot of cameos of experts from different science fields giving their views on global warming. However, most of the content is common sense and recycled information that has been taken from previous documentaries such as "An Inconvenient Truth" (which is much better). This is still a decent effort and does get its point across as an informative documentary of a very serious issue that faces all of humanity. Congrats to DiCaprio for this effort!
If your in total denial about our global situation, then this Documentary is not for you.
However if you care about the planet (OUR only current source for sustainable liffe) then like me, you will Hate IT!
It will make you angry, feel hopless and want to cry. You might even have to STOPthe dvd a few times, because its just alot to take in one sitting ( I don't know, but it took me a couple of days).
I think EVERYONE in America should be forced to watch this movie! It is an Eye Opener! I mean Stephan Hawking, One of the Leading Scientist in the world came out to speak to US. We need to listen!
Although its very depressing, I think they did a great job delivering the solution to OUR problem. I felt like theres still HOPE and It put FAITH back in my heart, that Humans might still have a chance to correct where they went wrong.
WATCH IT!
Get passed all the doomsday material and check out the solutions and optimism of taking on this challenge. Think about it, this generation today gets to redesign human civilation. LET'S DO IT.
If only we would act on the good advice so many people are eager to offer on how to avoid a potential global catastrophe. This film is one of several dealing with the issues in a relatively clear and concise manner. My perspective is the single biggest problem is overpopulation but none of the documentaries seem to focus on that issue. Still, this film has some marvelous visual images and intelligent discourse so I found it entertaining.
ZZZZZZZZZ...Oh, the movie is over. They couldn't get Morgan Freedman? They had to settle for Leonardo DiCaprio. Yes, we all know the world it ending. Yes, we know we messed up the environment. Why make an other whiney documentary about it? Could it be because they didn't make Titanic II?
The speakers are sincere, but that does not change the fact that their views are flawed. They care to much about pollution and not enough about people. If you still believe the theory of evolution you should look at the full spectrum of facts, and not blindly follow what you were indoctrinated into believing. A good place to start is drdino.com
