A lonely taxidermist with a photographic memory dreams of committing the "perfect crime" in Nine Queens director Fabián Bielinsky's deliberately paced existential thriller. Espinosa (Ricardo Darín) is an epileptic fortysomething who makes his living by stuffing creatures for the natural history museum in Buenos Aires. It is there that Espinosa meets friend and fellow taxidermist Sontag (Alejandro Awada). After picking up their paycheck at a nearby bank, Sontag kindly invites the lonely Espinosa to join him in the forests of southern Argentina for a brief hunting getaway. Soon after checking into their hotel, Sontag and Espinosa take to nature in hopes of bagging a buck, but their voyage takes a dark turn when, in the grip of another seizure, Espinosa accidentally shoots and kills hotel owner Dietrich (Manuel Rodal). Though his suspicions that Dietrich was involved with some shady dealings seem little more than a means for justifying the tragic turn of events, Espinosa soon realizes that he may be onto something when a pair of thugs named Sosa (Pablo Cedron) and Montero (Walter Reyno) come searching for the missing proprietor. As all of the elements quickly fall into place, it begins to appear as if Espinosa may finally be prepared to execute the crime he has always dreamt about. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Set in an anonymous Latin American country, (perhaps Chile?) the Aura surprised me, pleasantly! Here is a moody, non-Hollywood piece that keeps one riveted to the end. The unlikely hereo, an epileptic taxidermist maintains his character throughout as do all supporting characters. It is subtitled which adds to the mystique. The soundtrack is just as suspenseful as the movie. The thing about the movie that gripped me was how the story, though wild, somehow convinces the viewer that it really could happen. Avant garde movie goers should not miss this one!

incredible movie. like the others here, i enjoyed it from the first frame to the end. the movie paces well, not in a hurry, but slowly builds internal tension. very good, very cleanly done.

This story puts you right into the mind of Espinosa. Getting deeper into trouble as the story unfolds. With the help of a photographic memory and a lot of luck he manages to survive. A terrific and suspenseful film right to the end.

I cannot understand why people liked this movie. It was so slow and boring. I wouldn't watch this again for anything. It was horrible.

A slow-paced, but entertaining heist film from Argentina. Like many in the genre, logic and plausibility do not hold-up under close scrutiny (I still can't explain the motivation for the main character's actions) -- so just throw off your thinking cap, sit back, and enjoy its superficial pleasures.

I kept wondering if Espinosa knew what he was doing. He always looked like someone who was always confused. However, it was a decent story of the reality of the dream a lonely taxidermist had about committing a perfect crime.

This is an excellent movie. The cinematography (which I don't normally pay any attention to) was outstanding, the acting was great (although I don't speak a lick of Spanish), and the story development & plot were fantastic. It is a bit slow in places, but overall I'd highly recommend this movie.

I watched about two minutes of the film just because it took that long to find out none of the actors talked ENGLISH. If I have to read and look at a movie it's hard to understand the meaning of the film. There should be a comment in the movie write-up that states the movie will NOT be or can not be heard in English.
