Academy Award-winning Exorcist director William Friedkin scuttles deep into the darkest recesses of the traumatized human psyche with this tale of a lonely bartender haunted by the long-ago disappearance of her young son, and the paranoia that emerges when she enters into a tentative relationship with a deeply disturbed drifter. Adapted from the off-Broadway play by Tracy Letts, Bug centers on Agnes (Ashley Judd), who tends bar alongside pal R.C. (Lynn Collins), and has recently moved into a shoddy roadside motel in hopes of avoiding her menacing and recently paroled ex-husband, Jerry (Harry Connick Jr.). Upon making the acquaintance of subdued former soldier Peter (Michael Shannon, repeating his stage role), a veteran of the first Gulf War, Agnes finally senses that things are looking up. Quietly charming despite his melancholy aura, Peter soon reveals to Agnes that he contracted a "bug" while serving in the Middle East, and that it may have been deliberately administered as part of a secret military medical experiment. Convinced that the microscopic insects are quickly multiplying just under the surface of his skin and that they have now infected Agnes as well, Peter soon descends into a psychotic rage as he resorts to increasingly desperate measures to purge himself of the offending subdermal arthropods. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Quite simply, the worst movie ever made. Do not waste the money on rental.

This was by far the worst movie I have EVER seen! The trailers are completely decieving. Do not waste 2 hours of you life like I did watching this disaster.

The movie is okay. But Ashley Judd's performance is great.

œBug - Well, now we know that Ashley Judd can play, brilliantly and convincingly, the role of a severely afflicted paranoid schizophrenic. --- Michael Shannon is brilliant also, but, if not for Judd'™s performance, I would have shut the DVD down well before the finish. Perhaps my fear for Judd'™s character, desolate, disturbed, and defenseless, being progressively drawn into Shannon'™s character'™s insanity also kept me watching until the end. --- The movie "œBug" itself? Gawd, what an ugly screenplay to be filmed so skillfully, realistically. Severe mental illness is painful to watch. I didn't know what was real and what was the product of the prolifically delusional minds of the characters. --- Movie: 3/5 stars; Acting: 4/5 stars

A slow trip into absolute parinoid insanity. It starts slow but, the last 30 minutes is riveting. The the two of them come apart infront of you eyes is EPIC!

The only thing good about this movie was Ashley Judd. This movie sucks!!!! The trailer must have been taken from another movie because it wasn't from this one.

What a great movie. Not some piece of crap "horror" movie about bugs invading poeple's bodies. I get so tired of that garbage. It's cool to watch a film that actually has some intelligence behind it.
