Thanks to the carelessness of a cute little dog, newlyweds Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin are killed in a freak auto accident. Upon arriving in the outer offices of Heaven, the couple finds that, thanks to a century's worth of bureaucratic red tape, they're on a long celestial waiting list. Before they can earn their wings, Davis and Baldwin must occupy their old house as ghosts for the next fifty years. Alas, the house is now owned by insufferable yuppies Catherine O'Hara and Jeffrey Jones. Horrified at the prospect of sharing space with these obnoxious interlopers, Davis and Baldwin do their best to scare O'Hara and Jones away, but their house-haunting skills are pathetic at best. In desperation, the ghostly couple engage the services of a veteran scaremeister: a yellow-haired, snaggle-toothed, profane, flatulent "gonzo" spirit named Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton). The problem: Beetlejuice cannot be trusted-especially when he falls in love with O'Hara and Jones' gloomy, black-clad teenaged daughter Winona Ryder. A classic Tim Burton movie filled with laughs and funny settings. Now i can believe in heaven! Michael Keaton is just a riot as Beetlejuice. very creative set designs and costuming make the visuals very interesting. Acting is great all around.

Beetlejuice is the decadent jewel of Tim Burton's eighties career. Funnier than Batman and a lot more conceivable than Pee Wee's Big Adventure, it is perfect for the family-oriented. It's not scary, and what creeps it gives are used to channel the hilarity. Baldwin (in his younger and quite skinnier years) and Davis are the perfect nice ghosts, and Ryder gives a fair performance as the gothic girl who can see them. However, the only actor, the only actor who I barely believed was even playing the role, that puts on a show worthy of some sort of Oscar is Michael Keaton. He brought Beetlejuice to life, and owns the majority of the jokes in the movie. He is excellent!!!!! Tim Burton is a wacky genius, and then is one of his finest examples of his genius.

Great comedy. Something the whole family can enjoy. Michael Keaton is hilarious as Beetlejuice. Once he begins his lines the movie really picks up on the comedy side. Funny, funny, funny!

What an awful movie. The cartoon on TV was funnier that this trash. Tim Burton is a very over-rated director. He's so strange that some people think it must be good cause nobody can make a movie this devoid of humor and still have a career.

    Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice... gotcha! This is where I fell in love with Winona Ryder. A funny film. All the pros gave great comedic performances. Newbies Davis and Baldwin didn't drop the ball either. The special effects look corny but they work almost seemlessly with the characters. Keaton was the original "Joker" here.
