Thanks to the carelessness of a cute little dog, newlyweds Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin are killed in a freak auto accident. Upon arriving in the outer offices of Heaven, the couple finds that, thanks to a century's worth of bureaucratic red tape, they're on a long celestial waiting list. Before they can earn their wings, Davis and Baldwin must occupy their old house as ghosts for the next fifty years. Alas, the house is now owned by insufferable yuppies Catherine O'Hara and Jeffrey Jones. Horrified at the prospect of sharing space with these obnoxious interlopers, Davis and Baldwin do their best to scare O'Hara and Jones away, but their house-haunting skills are pathetic at best. In desperation, the ghostly couple engage the services of a veteran scaremeister: a yellow-haired, snaggle-toothed, profane, flatulent "gonzo" spirit named Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton). The problem: Beetlejuice cannot be trusted-especially when he falls in love with O'Hara and Jones' gloomy, black-clad teenaged daughter Winona Ryder. Beetlejuice producer David Geffen, director Tim Burton, and composer Danny Elfman were also involved in an animated TV-series spin-off. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice... gotcha! This is where I fell in love with Winona Ryder. A funny film. All the pros gave great comedic performances. Newbies Davis and Baldwin didn't drop the ball either. The special effects look corny but they work almost seemlessly with the characters. Keaton was the original "Joker" here.

Absolutely hilarious. I have seen this movie countless times. It gets more and more funny each time I see it. Michael Keaton was superb in his role as Beetlejuice. The rest of the cast was killer as well. Glenn Shadix passed away recently. I got teary-eyed when I found out b/c I loved him as 'Otho'-RIP. I can't believe this movie is 22 yrs. old!! I hope they create a 25th Anniv. version in a few years. I will buy it in a heartbeat!!

I grew up with this movie and it is one of my favorites. Michael Keaton is awesome in it. The supporting cast is great and the effects for an 80's movie were amazing. I can't wait for the sequel.

A bit too "edgy" for family fare, as is typical of Tim Burton (Babe 2 is another example). Funny premise that could have been kept cleaner; thus the so-so rating.

One of my all time favorite movies. Original, funny, and heartwarming all at the same time. It is one of Michael Keaton's greatest performances. He was snubbed major awards for this role. He was every bit as good, if not better than Johnny Depp in Pirates. This is a must see.

This movie says it is PG but my husband and I realized beetlejuice throws out the F-bomb and makes quite a few sexual gestures. We watched this as kids but don't remember the language and what not. We were watching it with our kids and had to turn it off. make sure you don't watch this with kids...it is NOT PG.

Forgot how silly this movie is. It seemed a lot more fun when I was younger. The kids enjoyed it but I think they were a little bit scared certain parts.

Waste of time. The only worse movie I have ever seen is Harry and Kumar Go to White Castle, which is also the only movie I quit in mid-stream.
