Most Inspector Clouseau fans regard The Pink Panther Strikes Again as the best of the clumsy Parisian detective's "comeback" films of the 1970s. Driven insane by the stupidities of Clouseau (Peter Sellers), ex-inspector Dreyfuss (Herbert Lom) transforms into a master criminal. Kidnapping the inventor of a death ray, Dreyfuss threatens to use the demon device indiscriminately unless Clouseau is offered as a "sacrifice." A hunted man, Clouseau is forced to adopt one transparent (but hilarious) disguise after another. He is rescued from being incinerated by Dreyfuss when Soviet spy Olga (Leslie Ann Down) falls in love with him and strives to protect him. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Having grown up with Peter Sellers and the Pink Panther, we definitely appreciated this movie. It was delightfully silly at times, yes, but that just made me laugh even harder. Not sure how someone who does not know Sellers would take this, but I think they would get a lot of enjoyment out of this as well!
This is a pretty good "Pink Panther" movie...better than most the other ones ! The dentist scene in this flick is hysterically funny - - this scene alone SAVES this movie from being "so-soi." Sellers and Lom are pretty funny - and feed off each other wonderfully in this picture.
Swine maid. Swine moat. Brilliant Sellers. This is what people watched before the advent of "Monty Python" and "Saturday Night Live". The "Pink Panther" series is laugh-till-you-snort-soup-from-your-nose funny, and this version is no exception. The prat falls are great; count how many times Clouseau knocks Dreyfus into the water! The moat scene is hysterical and reminiscent of the foibles of Wile E. Coyote. Rent this "meuvie" and enjoy!
This is a basic retread of the previous Pink Panther movies. There is nothing new and original. How many times can you laugh at Clouseau getting his hand stuck in a vase. I checked out halfway through wishing I had rented "Being There" instead
Herbert Lom escapes from the luny bin and vows to kill Clouseau and he builds a criminal organization and kidnaps a scientist and builds the ultimate weapon and blackmails the world.
This is the sort of thing James Bond fights but we only have Clouseau. Pretty funny.
