Margaret Cho: Assassin (2005)
Member Rating:
Leftist comedian Margaret Cho issues another salvo in her ongoing battle to laugh intolerant conservatives out of power in this performance documentary. Recorded during two dates during Cho's 2005 standup tour, Margaret Cho: The Assassin Tour features the acerbically funny comic discussing such subjects as the ongoing battle over gay marriage, the 2004 presidential election, the presidency of George W. Bush, the Terri Schiavo case, possible upsides of being raised in a restrictive culture, her mother's recent heart attack, and what happened when she was unexpectedly booked to entertain a Republican activist group. Margaret Cho: The Assassin Tour was the fourth concert film from the popular humorist. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Margaret Cho USED to be so funny that you'd gag on your own laughter. She seems to have forgotten that she's a comedian. I don't know if I'd call if social or political soapboxing... I didn't laugh once. Even the folks who paid to see her show in person aren't laughing. They clap in agreement with her views. The crazy thing is that she ^believes^ that she is being edgy and original. She's just boring..... I miss the old comedian, Margaret Cho - the entertainer.

Bitter, confused, mixed up lezzy. This whole thing was about lezzy, homosexual, or political content.

Such a shame b/c she was so funny in the beginning of her career and now she's all political, and it's not even funny. I'm as liberal as the next guy but political ranting is not her thing. Go back to talking about your family and your childhood and leave the political humor to John Stewart and Dennis Miller!

She's just not funny anymore. Her good humor got replaced by political bashing, and anyone who doesn't agree with her "truth" is stupid. That's the world according to Margaret. Rent something else.

Margaret Cho could not make me laugh even once due to the fact that she was trying so hard to make a political statement that she could'nt put on a comedy performance. If she insists on this type of comedy style than she should take some lessons from the likes of Will Rogers or Bob Hope who could poke fun at the political of social issues of their time and still get a laugh.

Not funny at all! Her other performance was good, but this one I didn't even chuckle at. Dissapointing

A few good hard belly laughs, some really good Cho humor, but not nearly as funny as her other DVDs, actually sort of dissapointing as a whole. Worth the watch if you're a fan, but don't have high expectations.
