On a small, idyllic island off the coast of Japan, a community of people lead simple lives without contact with the outside world. The inhabitants of this seeming oasis are in for a change on a fateful day when a message can be heard by the children of the community: "Are you there?" The incomprehensibly malicious aliens that have destroyed the rest of Japan and its people have finally found the last surviving citizens and are about to wipe them out. This time, however, humans have prepared for the inevitable fight and respond with Fafner, a huge robotic dragon piloted by young Kazuki Makabe. Fafner is capable of such destruction that the human race has a real chance at destroying this enemy and living in peace again, but for such a young pilot with no concept of war, could it be a task too great for him to handle? ~ Cammila Collar, Rovi
This show is similar to Evangilion & RahXephon conceptually, but boy does this show move slowly. I couldn't get through the whole disc without sleeping or fastforwarding. I didn't watch the whole series, but if you've watched the other two Shows, then this one pales incomparison. I think they try to put more emphasis on the characters rather than on the fight scenes, which is why this show disappointed me. I didn't watch the whole series, but watching the first disc is all I needed to do..
