Inspired by author Eric Schlosser's New York Times best-seller of the same name, director Richard Linklater's ensemble drama examines the health issues and social consequences of America's love affair with fast food and features an all-star cast that includes Greg Kinnear, Ethan Hawke, Kris Kristofferson, Patricia Arquette, and Luis Guzman. Mickey's is the most popular fast-food chain in America, and The Big One is the top-selling burger that put them on the map. When the higher-ups at Mickey's corporate offices learn that the frozen meat patties used to make the wildly popular burger have somehow been tainted with contaminated meat, they send marketing executive Don Henderson (Kinnear) on an urgent mission to ensure quality control and find out precisely how their product became compromised. This movie was not what I thought it would be. It was R for a reason and I didn't think it was necessary to throw in the the sexual innuendos to make the point about the bureaucracy of where our food comes from. Definitely not for kids of any age.

I expected, like many it appears, that this would be an informative and educational view of the topic, but it failed to live up completely to that expectaction. I did learn of some practices and situations but it more glorified what is done with both meat production plants and with illegal immigrant work forces being used. It was star filled cast, even some you weren't told to expect had parts, but the overall tehme ended up being more filler like sex scenes and situations that had no real place in the story and less real fact. It's a very biased and single minded view. I am sure some if not all happens in these places but they are simply only showing the bad aspects with no possible positives being shown. I don't honestly know if there is positive but I find it almost impossible to believe it is all negative. Last thing, don't try to watch this over dinner! Trust me on that one...

This movie was one of the worst I've watched. I would rather have seen the information presented in a documentary format, as it was good information, but the movie itself was awful. It was presented in fictional format but with very little plot. I will not watch this again. Ever. Watch Food, Inc. instead.

If you read the book you will be disappointed in the movie. It has very out there sub-plots that don't connect or have anything to do with the book's story. Read the book! It is much better as far as learning about the fast food industry and what you are eating if you patronize a restaurant.

This movie was very disturbing, so much so that I fast forwarded thru most of it and then when it turned my stomach so badly I almost tossed my cookies I ejected it and walked it right out to the mailbox. Not at all informative or what I expceted and I wouldn't recommend it.

Very dramatic... watch it with our 13 year old... the movie sparked emotions, questions, concerns.... it didn't effect our eating habits... don't "do fast food". But made the family discuss what's wrong with corporate governance.... wish I was this smart at 13..... "this is wrong dad..."

Engaging, thought-provoking and sharply written, this is an impressively directed drama with superb performances from its talented ensemble cast. The message that it brings to the table is just as important as the global warming issue. Who knows what your eating these day and this is just an eye-opener.
