The true story behind the murders that many crime scholars believe to be the most perplexing series of unsolved crimes in modern history comes to the screen in chilling detail as Fight Club and Seven director David Fincher steps behind the camera to tell the mysterious tale of the infamous Zodiac killer. A relentless serial killer is stalking the streets of the San Francisco Bay Area, leaving citizens locked into a constant state of panic, and baffled authorities scrambling for clues. Though the killer sadistically mocks the detectives by leaving a series of perplexing ciphers and menacing letters at the crime scenes, the investigation quickly flatlines when none of the evidence yields any solid leads. As two detectives remain steadfast in their devotion to bringing the elusive killer to justice, they soon find that the madman has control not only over their careers, but their very lives as well. Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, and Robert Downey Jr. star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

"Zodiac" manages to be incredibly eerie without being too "in-your-face" terrifying. This film tells the fascinating story behind not only the murders themselves, but the actual investigation. I have a specific review for Mr. Downey, who might have the most interesting character in the film. At some points seemingly under-acted (rather brilliantly, if I might add), the character of Paul Avery proves to be incredibly deep and multi-demensional (and rather grim, as well). Mr. Downey, perfectly genius at everything he does, certainly doesn't fail to deliver and keep the viewer engaged in the plotline. I highly reccomend "Zodiac." Gyllenhaal (another Hollywood Godsend) does a wonderful job at portraying the over-curious cartoonist with an apparent fetish for newspaper clippings. This film has it all: briliant acting, direction, and soudtrack (thanks for everything, Donovan).

It was a wonderful movie, but scary because I recall being in California during those days. Although it was a bit too long, the cast was great and the story compelling because it is true.

This is one of the best movies I have probably ever seen. It is so interesting and done very tastefully. Great actors. Compelling and interesting. You really need to see this.

Not being a fan of violent films, I found this movie surprisingly entertaining for a story about a real serial killer. It's more of a "who-done-it" instead of a slasher flick. I thought the screenplay was great and the acting was spot on. Jake Gyllenhaal shocked me with his awesome acting chops in this. I love when true stories are done well in films and this is one of those well-done historical accounts of a very real event in our history.

Good story and entertaining. Not intended to be a documentary of the true story, but pretty close. They could have easily edited out an hour and kept the pace moving without losing anything important.

not too bad, better if you know the specifics of all the cases. they changed a bit of the story though. tons of great actors in it. definately worth watching even if just for the history. was a bit long though.
