The discovery of an ancient secret leads to a shocking revelation that may forever alter the course of history in this imaginative entry from the folks who brought you Stargate SG-1. When the SG-1 crew unearths the remnants of what they believe to be the Lost City of the Ancients -- the very civilization that originated the Stargates -- an investigation by Stargate Command leads a new team of explorers to a distant galaxy. Headed by Dr. Elizabeth Weir, the explorers soon discover the deserted remnants of a highly advanced civilization settled on the ocean floor. When the daring explorers make contact with a group of nomadic humans, the discovery of an otherworldly enemy that feeds on fear offers a grim foreshadowing of things to come for the human race if they don't band together and fight the dark force that threatens to consume them all. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

This pilot was well done making a great jump pad from Stargate SG-1 with several characters from that team using the Antarctica base to find a way to another Galaxy to find Atlantis. But don't get this disk get Season 1 Disk 1 that includes not only everything on this minus a corny "making of" but two other episodes in the series.

I wish Blockbuster would explain that THIS IS EPISODES 1 and 2 of Season 1! I have rented so many things that end up being on another set! Don't make that mistake. If you rented Season 1, then this is the first 2 episodes! Oh, and a review? Awesome! Absolutely love anything that has to do with Stargate. Hope this one sticks around for many, many years.

I Must Say I Was Skeptical At First Of The Stargate Atlantis Series, I Didn't Really Believe It Could Be Nearly As Good As The SG-1 Series, But With This Pilot I Find Myself Wanting More, I Have Already Added As Many Stargate Atlantis Seasons As I Could Find To My Queue, And I Recommend It To All The Rest Of You As Well.

stargate atlantis is better in every way than the original stargate sg1. the acting, writing, special effects as well as the pacing are far superior. kudos to the stargate family for a welcome new scifi classic.
