Kilo was born into a life of crime. By the time he was an adult, he was a full-time dealer, and when he meets Sabeva, the daughter of a Colombian drug kingpin, he reaches the upper levels of drug trafficking. It is a dangerous business, however, and eventually Kilo ends up in prison. Still running his operation from inside of a cell, he is eventually offered a shady deal: his sentence will be suspended if he will murder a convicted child-killer. Now Kilo stands at a crossroads, unsure which actions will clear his conscience, end his sentence, or end his life. ~ Cammila Albertson, Rovi

I have seen a lot of Studio films and I cant believe this was not one of them. This action and acting was incredible. Its one of the best rentals out there if you Liked SCARFACE and BLOOD IN BLOOD OUT you will LOVE EL PADRINO!!!! Damian Chapa is one of the best actors in Hollywood, and As a director he leaves you on the edge of your seat also the entire film. Jennifer Tilly is really a true talent. the best Latino American gangster film in 10 years.

It was ok, Jennifer Tilly needed to show the goods, but unfortunately all she did was tease.

This was a very good movie - action, prison suspense, Mafia, betrayal, corrupt government officials, etc. It even had a good story line going through 3 generations of the family. Very good acting by the cast of Damian Chapa, Jennifer Tilly, Stacy Keach, Kathleen Quilan, Faye Dunaway and Gary Busey. If you like the new TV series "Cane" - I think you will like this movie.

Anyone who has seen 'The Godfather' or 'Kingpin' or any well-made movie will be sorely disappointed with 'El Padrino'. The main character is a well-meaning but tired copy of Michael Corleone and the plot is weak . And listening to Jennifer Tilly talk with a Latino accent made me want to sleep with the fishes. I kept watching out of pure fascination at how terrible this movie was, then gave up and watched 'Last King of Scotland'. This movie should be avoided at all costs.

A wonderful ensemble cast, has to work with an unwieldy script. Moody, dark photography adds the only real drama in this uneven film. Drifts on and on, without destination for too long. Not nearly enough action. Poor writing is the death of this most promising premise. Too bad. It could have been so much more.
