Richard Quine directs George Axelrod's acerbic script (adapted from Julien Duvivier's La Fête à Henriette) in this romantic comedy that reunites William Holden and Audrey Hepburn for the first time since 1954's Sabrina. Holden plays Richard Benson, a Hollywood screenwriter being pressured by movie producer Alexander Meyerheimer (Noël Coward) to finish his script entitled "The Girl Who Stole the Eiffel Tower." Meyerheimer gives Richard a two-day ultimatum to complete his work, unaware that Richard has yet to even start on the script. In an effort to get moving on his project, Richard hires a live-in secretary, Gabrielle Simpson (Audrey Hepburn), to help him. Soon enough, the two fall in love and spend the time enacting various scenes from the unwritten screenplay as the time slips away and Richard's deadline looms. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

I enjoyed the film’s portrayal of a script writer’s process, and as a big fan of Audrey Hepburn, found her delightful as ever. The movie was a fun romp through the characters imaginations, and kudos to the tongue in cheek cameo by Tony Curtis. If you are a fan of light comedies, then this is sure to one to watch. Andy

I was excited to see this after seeing some clips on a website. Then I read numerous reviews and was a little worried that I was wasting time on it. It drags a bit in the middle, but the cameos are classic (Tony Curtis is great.) It's a goofy film, but its very cute too. Audrey looks great, as always, and its great to see William and her together again.

This is a really cute old film. Audrey Hepburn is breathtakingly beautiful - as always. William Holden is too old as her love interest, but Tony Curtis is hot! Very funny and tongue-in-cheek in spots. Slow in the middle but almost good enough to buy!

Gene Elder here: March 30, 2010 Paris When It Sizzles is one of those movies that still holds up after all these years. Holden and Hepburn are gorgeous and never looked better. Even though it is deffinitely a movie from that period in dialogue and texture, it "holds up" in that it is a movie that makes fun of art and the movie business, which makes it always a fun movie to watch. I adore Audrey Hepburn and she is the only thing worth watching about this movie. The movie fizzles so fast, I've hardly seen a more meaningless film and kept wishing it would move past the drunken, existentialist, scriptwriter gig. The end is just as disappointing. If you're looking for an interesting film and a nice story, this movie is a big disappointment. If you just love to see Hepburn and Holden in any setting this film accomplishes only that.

In my opinion this movie was a portrayal of a liquor consuming procrastinator! Snoozer...

A different type of comedy movie that takes place in an apartment complex.

I didn't like how he kept changing his story and the movie would go back and re-do the same boring scenes over and over as he rewrote them with her. I had to force myself to finish this, it made me want to just watch tv and return the dvd.
