I wasn't sure, reading the summary of this movie what to expect. I hesitated and then picked this one of a choice of 3 I was considering. I am so glad I did! Australia is producing some top notch films that dare to be unique while still having wide appeal. This one was a gem. Not only were the characters real and appealing, but the story presents a set of dilemmas for people who are struggling with finding meaning in their lives, that evolve in ways initially sad but ultimately promising. It infuses comedy while providing honesty. You feel good after seeing it, although I would not categorize it as a "feel good" movie - it has depth. Was this review helpful? Yes

The kind of movie that the U.S. should make, but usually can't. Sensitive, nuanced acting. Intelligent, careful directing. Unusual use of animation. A story of how danger, death and loss can change and mold us, but should not control us. In the end, a beautiful story of hope. See this movie only if you have some intelligence and human empathy. At first I couldn't understand where this movie was going. A woman who has visions of violent death; a man who lives a busy life being confronted with imminent death from cancer. Both of them self-absorbed, but meet due to an accident., and they slowly recognized something in the other person. This turned out to be a movie of hope, with positive outcomes for the three main characters. Was this review helpful? Yes

I loved this movie. You get to know and care about the characters and the story lines. Many different stories overlap and intersect, but universal themes about isolation, loneliness, death, love, and hope overarch them all. I thought this was evocative and thoughtful...and beautifully done. I wish Hollywood would start producing movies like this Australian one. It was so real and gets at life issues we all experience. It makes you think...and feel...something most movies don't know how to do. Loved it. Was this review helpful? Yes

A unique way of expressing thoughts and fantasies in the form of animation in an otherwise live film. Creative format, good story. Was this review helpful? Yes

makes one think about death and especially cancer in a very direct, honest way. clever use of animation to represent inner worries. but not much of a payoff in terms of humor, excitement, psychological insight, or ideas about how to cope with mortality.characters grow, change and connect with each other, but its never clear why or how. more ambitious than most hollywood films, but ultimately disappointing. This movie was offbeat but I like that, the movie had a deeper meaning than the actors portrayed. All in all it was a little better than okay. Was this review helpful? Yes

Two thumbs way up - got me to check it out. If you have run out of movies and absolutely have nothing else to do then get this one. Story - acting - everything is dull. Was this review helpful? Yes
