A hotshot thirtysomething record executive tries to win over the girl who once liked him only "as a friend" in this slapstick comedy. In high school, Chris Brander (Ryan Reynolds) was an overweight, maladroit teen who spent every waking moment with his co-ed pal Jamie Palamino (Amy Smart). On the verge of graduation, Chris is humiliated when his yearbook confession to Jamie -- that he wants to be more than "just friends" -- is read aloud. Jamie is flattered, but rebuffs his advances, and Chris spends the next decade transforming himself into a buff, callous ladies' man. Assigned by his boss to sign his pop star ex-girlfriend Samantha James (Anna Faris), Chris finds himself stranded in New Jersey for the holidays, where he promptly sets out to find Jamie. But winning back the love of his life proves difficult, as Chris not only has to get back in touch with the sensitive teen he once was, but also fend off competition from another former geek, the guitar-playing Dusty (Chris Klein). ~ Michael Hastings, Rovi

This movie has a great blend of overcoming adversity, comedy and love. It's a perfect movie for date night that our ladies crave so much from us.

JUST FRIENDS is a sleeper modern classic that you can watch over and over and still find nuggets of undiscovered humor. Ryan Reynolds as Chris Brander shows his true comedic chops as the fat kid who slimmed down and went Hollywood but still holds a candle for his BFF from high school. Chris Klein steals every scene as duplicitous Dusty Dinkelman, and Anna Faris is perfect as the self-absorbed starlet. This movie is so easy to love as it is filled with scenes and lines that make you laugh and remember what is was like to be a geeky outsider in love with your best friend.

It was a good movie and somewhat funny. Ryan Reynolds is very good and Amy Smart is quite cute in this movie. I got tired QUICK of the Anna Faris character and her voice. Ryan Reynold's brother in the movie was quite good and so funny but the mom was horrible. Movie was enjoyable but could have been SO much better.

A few funny moments, separated by lots of cringe-inducing pratfalls.. If not for "cute as a button" Amy Smart, the movie would have been unbearable. I'm for a chick flik as much as the next guy - but my wife and I both agreed that there are other choices out there much better than this one...

This movie wasn't bad, its just that there wasn't anything special about it either. There are a lot of better movies in the genre out there.

Chris Brander has always been friends with Jamie Palamino, but now decides it is time to take his relationship to the next step. The problem is, is that Jamie still wants to be 'Just Friends'. When he runs away and moves to L.A., he becomes a attractive music manager, who everyone wants. When his jet crashes, when flying to Paris with his newest singing sensation, Samantha James, he ends up back home. To his surprise, he encounters Jamie again, and sets out to be more than 'Just Friends' this time.

This movie was funny. It goes to show how people discriminate against overweight people. She just wanted to be friends until he came back incredibly thinner.

ridiculous movie, of course, but worth watching for Chris Klein's performance. He alone steals the film
