Maria Rita is the daughter of a famous Brazilian singer Elis Regina, one of the early stars of bossa nova. Her mother is now a legend, and Maria Rita is carrying on the legacy. This dvd showcases her in concert with her unique blend of pop, bossa nova, jazz and other styles. The band is a classic setup including string bass. Her music is more classically influenced as well, at least as far as this particular show goes. There are subtitles in English (as well as Spanish) and I think anyone who likes good music would enjoy being introduced to her here. Bossa nova being a huge influence in jazz circles, any true aficionado should know of work like this.
