This (13th) time around, 007 (once again played by Roger Moore) receives the usual call to come and visit M when another agent drops off a fake Faberge jeweled egg at the British embassy in East Berlin and is later killed at a traveling circus. Suspicions mount when the assistant manager of the circus Kamal (Louis Jourdan), outbids Bond for the real Faberge piece at Sotheby's. Bond follows Kamal to India where the superspy thwarts many an ingenious attack and encounters the antiheroine of the title (Maud Adams), an international smuggler who runs the circus as a cover for her illegal operations. It does not take long to figure out that Orlov (Steven Berkoff), a decidedly rank Russian general is planning to raise enough money with the fake Faberges to detonate a nuclear bomb in Europe and then defeat NATO forces once and for all in conventional warfare. Review 325: Moore's uncharming bond is an out of shape, creepy, uninteresting lame-o secret agent around well played characters and a semi decent story relying on female innuendos(ditch Moore.)

An interesting aspect is another James Bond movie with Sean Connery - Never Say Never Again - also came out in 1983. This just did not have the fun and escapism that James Bond films are known for. Both films were disappointments to me.

This Bond film sort of is not sure what it wants to be-a serious spy caper (like For your Eyes Only), a gadget-laden spectacle (Like Spy Who Loved Me) or a comedy (Like Moore's first two films). Suprisingly it works fairly well given the odd mix.

ok! Here is my thing with this Bond film. One like i said there is no bad bond film. An that is true with this film .But something about this film that doesnt make it feel like a bond film. To me it had a scattered plot an weird title. Second the title doesnt make sense. You here Octopuss an you might like me think that its plot deals with water. But it doesnt! Its in India! However besides that this is a Bond film an the ending with Khmal Khans death is a classic Bond death.
