This action-packed remake of the John Carpenter classic tells the tale of an under-manned Detroit police precinct on its last day of operation that finds itself under siege by a ruthless force that will not stop. This time, a notorious cop-killer and mobster Marion Bishop (Laurence Fishbourne) is unexpectedly brought into the precinct during a blizzard on New Year's Eve, much to the dismay of police sergeant Jake Roenick (Ethan Hawke). By nightfall, the remaining cops and prisoners find themselves fighting for their lives against a group of rogue cops intent on taking down Bishop before he testifies against them in the courtroom. Now it's up to the officers, secretaries, and inmates on the inside to band together just to survive this one night. Also starring Gabriel Byrne, John Leguizamo, Drea de Matteo, and Brian Dennehy. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide
Assault on Precinct 13 is a great action thriller from start to finish, about a kingpin that is taken in. And a lot of cops were on the take with him so the cops throw everything they got at Precinct 13 to try to kill him and everyone that is there so that he can not testify against them in court.
this is a poorly-made film filled with cursing. it is about an attack on a police station housing a cop killer. stupid and inane. good setting and intreresting story (throwback to the sheriff in the old west with an outlaw and an angry mob wanting to hang him. but this film does not deliver. you never care about any of the characters. none of them distinguish themselves. at the end, i did not care who lived or died and just admired the setting more than the story or characters filling it. in more capable hands, this could be a good story. maybe john carpenter's version is better. it has got to be better than this.
Assault 0n Precinct 13 once again gets another rating 0f # 1* because I just could not get into it because of the Talking that was in this Movie and I don't like every other word being a curse word* Virginia shuck* E/mail ginny@gmail.com thanks*
This was not one of the best moives of the year, but it had some good qualities. Laurence Fishburne and Ethan Hawke delivered decent performances. However I thougth the ending was kind of weak and left you wondering if there was going to be a sequel.
