You can't help but laugh at this movie. So many parts to relate to. Vacation will take you away from the daily stress of life into a world of entertaining comedy and adventure. While you don't have to be totally locked into the movie to enjoy, it is worth paying attention for the subtle comical overtones.

This movie, in my opinion is Chevy Chase's funniest performance ever. The movie gets funnier every time you watch it. There is a reason why it spawned so many sequels, none of which are as funny, although Christmas comes close. In my opinion it is the best National Lampoon’s movie ever. The story is a simple family vacation in which everything goes horribly wrong, but it’s the way in which Chevy Chase’s Character (Clark) reacts to what happens that gives you the none stop laughs. If you have never seen it before it is a must, rent it and you won't regret it.

This movie is a classic. I love it. It's not as good as Christmas vacation, however. I love all the Chevy Chase movies. They are hilarious.

The description says this is Far superior to its sequels but I would like to say if you liked this movie then you need to watch all four of the Griswald movies (I don't count the Christmas vacation 2). Christmas Vacation is one of the most quoteable movies of all time and should be a yearly christmas tradition. European vacation and Vegas vacation aren't quite as good as the other two but still have very funny molments.
