Actor Daniel Craig assumes the role formerly occupied by such screen greats as Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and Timothy Dalton to set out on the character's very first 007 mission. James Bond has earned his "00" status by masterfully executing a pair of death-defying professional assassinations. Now assigned the task of traveling to Madagascar to spy on notorious terrorist Mollaka (Sebastien Foucan) for his maiden voyage as a 007 agent, Bond boldly goes against MI6 policy to launch an independent investigation that finds him traversing the Bahamas in search of Mollaka's notoriously elusive terror cell. Subsequently led into the company of the mysterious Dimitrios (Simon Abkarian) and his exotic girlfriend, Solange (Caterina Murino), Bond soon realizes that he is closer than ever to locating well-guarded terrorist financier Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), the man who has personally bankrolled some of the most prevalent terrorist organizations on the planet. When Bond learns that Le Chiffre is planning to partake in an upcoming high-stakes poker game to be played at Montenegro's Le Casino Royale and use the winnings to establish his financial grip on the globe, M (Judi Dench) assigns beguiling agent Vesper (Eva Green) the task of watching over the fledgling agent as he plays against Le Chiffre in a covert attempt to destroy the nefarious gambler's well-established monetary stronghold in the underworld once and for all. Bond will need more than his legendary gambling skills in order to win this dangerous game, though, and after allying himself with local MI6 field agent Mathis (Giancarlo Giannini) and CIA operative Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright), the endlessly suave super-spy puts on his poker face for a high-stakes game of cards in which the stakes are not measured in dollars, but human lives. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I was skeptical. I was watching bond before adolence in the 70's. Loving every minute. I was quite suprised when they changed actors after just three with Brosnan. I secretly wanted this film to suck! How dare they! Well, it didn't. It was even better. It took me right back to the good ole days. The one sassy woman he can't have is the one he really wants. The evil villian with the strange and unique defect. YUM I ate it up like a hungry pup. Gotta love Bond!

I was skeptical about this new bond, but he really pulled the whole James Bond thing off! Yes, did not live up the expectations of the James Bond image, but at the same time, that is part of the "beauty" of this movie. He trashes the one-liners for typical, but with so much style that you not only like it but do not dare to "challenge" his right to subvert against the image. The action is fantastic, non-stop. Good plot. I have not watch a bond movie in ages, so I am glad I was not dissapointed.

The best Bond movie in a very long time!!! Craig was really great as the new Bond! Looking forward to the next one he stars in.

This was just another Hollywood-type action movie, no real depth, character development, unbelievable scenes, etc. I did not like this movie, in fact, I turned it off after about 45 minutes. The Bourne movies trump this at all levels, plot twists, character development, true action, etc... Save your time and rent a Bourne movie, unless you like the mindless Hollywood type movies...

From the heart-stopping opening chase, this movie grabs you from the get-go! Daniel Craig is, in my opinion, the BEST Bond so far. Don't get me wrong! I love Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and Pierce Brosnan, but Craig gives the Bond character its long lost ruggedness that a true British secret agent needs. He adds some of that "Bourne" quality to the mix and left out the cheeky, often cheesy, glamor that past Bonds thrived on, without losing ANY sexiness. BIG THUMBS WAY UP!!

Not Bond at all. Very weak and has feelings????? Come on he would be better partnered with Tom Cruise in MI 3. Bond is a womanizer, loves em and leaves em, not falls in love with them. As a woman I want to watch a real man play Bond. Where have all the Connery's gone?

A great opening scene. But long and downhill from there. The poker scene at the end was ridiculous. It felt like an hour too long and the final poker hands were as improbable as they were predictable. The villian was Austin Powers like..... Craig is good as the new guy so I'll see the next one.

This is not the James Bond movies that have been previously released. He is no longer the womanizer or quick witted. No more gadgets. He comes off as having an emotional side to himself. In other words, they made him a wuss. I did not like the film at all. Turned into a chick flick for sure.

The best Bond ever. Daniel Craig, Eva Green, Mads Mikkelsen and Judi Dench round out a terrific cast in the newest edition to the Bond legacy in by far the best and most true to the book James Bond film. Outstanding acting, true emotion and kick ass special effects and action make this easily the Bond of the generation. Pierce Brosnan can kiss my ass.

Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) SHOULD have been kept alive somehow, and vanished ... so that the "Solace" sequel could've been 007's version of "Taken." Big, big mistake killing-off this beauty. And "Solace" provided none.
